So I am looking for a little advice and was hoping I could get it here. I have 3 cars that need some imperfections removed from the paint.
1. 2003 Alero-red, factory paint- swirls and some minor scratches.
2. 2008 Jeep wranger -black factory paint-light swirls with some fair scratches due to tree branches that occurred on the trail.
3. 1971 Plymouth Cuda-yellow-painted about 10 years ago with a basecoat/clear coat. This is a show car but due to some neglect has hard water stains etched in the paint and swirl marks.
In speaking to a friend of mine that works in a body shop, he highly recommended the So1o #86 system. I liked the idea of using one compound as I am new at this. I purchased the M86, WWLC7 yellow wool light cutting pad, and the WDFF7 black diamond finishing pad. I will be using a Milwaukee rotary buffer with 1750 rpm. Obviously I will start off with a wash, dry, and clay bar before I get into it.
My ultimate goal is to practice on the Alero, move up to the Jeep, and finish on the Cuda once I have gained some experience.
After reading on this forum it looks like the So1o system was designed for new paint applications and now I am second guessing this decision. Should i reconsider and use a UC/UP combination? Or M105/M205? Or scratchX/swirlX? The more I read the more I seem to get confused....
