Polish Newly Painted Camry

I just got my newly painted 97 Camry from the shop today. I really miss this car. But I notice that is is not as shiny as it was. I know I should not wax it yet, but do you think I can polish it to make it glossy? I have Ultimate Polish and SwirlX here and I'll be using a Ryobi Orbital buffer. Or better use my hands in doing it. I'm thinking of doing it tonight. What do you think?

Do you have holograms (buffer swirls) ?

Sorry guys for messing up my uploading. But as you can see, the paint on the other door is glossy than the other door. I called the painter and they said that they just sprayed the clear coat today, so it is not fully dry yet. Ther is no swirl marks, it's just kinda coarse surface. Do you think this will be corrected by polishing? I don't understand these things. Please advice.

If the painter sprayed the clear today the jobs not finished. The door needs to be cut and and buffed. Was this discussed in your original quote for the job? The course surface your feeling is orange peel.

He wrote that sand down complete car, paint complete car. 2 stage clear coat complete car. You mean I have to pay extra just to sand it and buff?

NOpe, it should be part of the repainting package. If he didn't buff the portion yet, meybe he's just letting the paint cure sufficiently which will make the sanding and buffing better and yield the same shine and depth as the original paint

unfortunately some body shops dont include the cut and buff price in the total cost of the paint job. Call the shop, tell them you figured the price you paid was for a complete paint job (cut and buff) and take it from there.

Was this from a Custom Shop or a Macco/ 1 Day Quickie type place? Depending on the shop this could run you between $300 - $1200

Swirlx, Ultimate polish or even Ultimate compound won't be sufficient in bringing back the gloss from the paint. It requires wet sanding (very fine grit), buffing initially with a wool cutting pad, foam cutting pads (burgundy), soft buff pad(yellor) and maybe a finishing foam pad and using different compounds, cleaner polish and glaze..

Nope, it was from the private shop. Some parts are actually shiny, then some are not. I will call them tomorrow. I hope it will be free. If I have to pay extra, then I might just do it myself with hand, if I can. I have no experience with this though.

Oh really? That much work? I can't do it myself. Too bad. Maybe I really need to ask the shop owner if it is included. But when I called him his morning, he told me they will polish it. I do not know hwta he meant by that.

Almost the entire car. The bumpers are shiny. And some parts of the door.

Thats normal.

I would have the car cut and buffed by a pro. Its too much work for someone who has never attempted a job this big. Call the shop go from there. Did they say anything about bringing the car back to finish in a few days?
