  • Deep "water-marks"? Please assist...

Hey yall. I havent been one in awhile cause ive been off at college. This semester BTW I got 3 A's and a B

So a client has approached me to do his 2009 Land Rover LR3. He expressed EXTREME concern with removing hard water spots on his tinted glass on the rear of the vehicle. I set up an appt with him to do a complete detail on his SUV next weekend. What is a "fool-proof" method to remove this water spots quickly and easily on his glass.
    Thanks guys!!!

    Clay could help.

I've also heard Vinegar and Water will work, too.

I would try scrubbing it with a terry cloth soaked in soap & water first before anything else.

Rule of thumb would be to do a test spot before taking on the job to see the severity of the marks. If the water marks are etched you will run into some major issues. If the owner just wants to see some improvement your in the clear no matter what you do but if the deal was made to take away the water marks on the windows I wold definitely do a test spot in front of the customer when the vehicle is dropped off so your both on the same page.

What tools/products do you have available?

If you try what others have just posted and they don't work... I have read in previous posts that #4 on a rotary is just about the best at cleaning glass.

I have used Barkeepers Friend with great results. I make a milky paste with water in a little bowl and wipe over hte glass with a MF. Let it sit a min or 2 and then wipe off with a damp rag. After that a quick spritz of vinegar and water and buff that off and glass so clear it erie to look out of.

I'm the only person I know of or read on any forums that has used this stuff. So, I've no idea how it compares to other methods, but it's easy, cheap, and works great. However, someone else please try this and let me know what you think.

You specifically mentioned tinted glass - the tint isn't, for some weird reason, on the outside of the glass is it? If so, though we highly doubt it, you'd be working on the tint film, not glass, and that changes things dramatically. The only reason we bring this up is because you specifically mentioned the owner being very concerned about this process, and there's no real reason to be so concerned if indeed you're just working on the glass and the tint is inside.

Can you confirm one way or the other?

The new BKF liquid works very well also!

                        That would be my approach.

Not sure if this would help, but figured I'd toss up my rust stain remover vid... I've used it to remove water marks too.
