  • Suggestions On products & steps

First I wanted to say, awesome forums! So much to read on and learn from here!!!

So i have done some detailing in the past, never the extreme before, well maybe not extreme but full blown, so just wondering if somebody could point out the right steps if im doing them wrong ( going to do )

    Clay Bar

    Ultimate Compound

    Ultimate Polish

    Glaze #7

    NTX & GC

I think i got the right steps down here, but do i need to add a step, or remove a step? Any pointers would help as well.

Also i dont have a DA polisher, i have a 10" orbital, will this be ok with MF bonnets? Reason I ask is i'm having a hard time finding the 10" foam pads where I live. Dont have the cash flow for the DA right now. So any suggestions would help on that also.

    Thanks

    1. Wash - 2 buckets, good soap, good mittt/towels, etc

    2. Clay Bar

    3. Clean - Ultimate Compound / Ultimate Polish - You could use both if needed, or just one. Really, you shouldnt need the UC everytime, just once to clean it up at first, and maybe once a year or so after. Ult. Polish should be all you need after, unless you are really putting swirls in somehow.

    4. Glaze #7 - This would be optional. Ult. Polish has a lot of oils already. Might do a spot with and without, see what you like better.

    5. NTX & GC - 2 thin coats of your favorite wax is good, or one of each.

Well.. you can try a test spot. Hard to say for sure what your results will be.

      Thanks Murr.

So on the compound and polish, So it should be cool if i just use say the Polish? or would you do both for the first time, what i got is a 2007 Pontiac G6. I bought the car new about 3 1/2 years ago, always did the up keep of washing, hand waxed a few times and havent clayed since i bought it or machine buffed . The worst part of the paint/clear is is swirls from washing. and Cats being on the hood. I just have really been slacking lately and just want to get it in the best shape it can be back in.

Well, without seeing it, the best thing would be a test spot of each, see which works.

If we are talking scratches and such, and some may not be fixable of course, probably going to need the UC.
