  • ultimate wash and wax

    hey guys,

wanted to ask if the ultimate wash and wax car shampoo is safe on plastic surfaces on the car (like below the windshield)?

since it has "wax" in it, won't it damage the plastic parts?

    thanks!

I use the Ultimate wash & wax on my 250 and it does not damage any plastic parts...

Definitely 100% safe on the entire exterior of the vehicle. It does not have the type of wax that would stain trim.

Been using it on my saddle-tan vinyl convertible top for two years without any ill effects, as well!

On a side note, how does the Ult Wash/Wax stack up against the NXT, Gold Class and Crystal stuff?

This is what I want to know as well. Seems many people prefer Gold Class over Ultimate Wash and Wax.

Gold Class is better price-wise if you are going to be doing detailing, etc after. A lot of us like to use UQW, etc after, so makes the UW&W not as worth it.

But it is very good, cleans well, leaves a nice look behind.

So I keep both around... UW&W for when in a hurry, and the regular soap for when doing things after.

This is a good point. I can see using UW&W for a weekly wash solution. This also can eliminate the need for a product like UQW, which in turn will save money, and boost profits if you are doing it for a client.

                  Re: ultimate wash and wax

I personally prefer the Gold Class wash and will not be re-purchasing the UW&W once my jug is empty. For some reason (most likely my bad technique), UW&W has left behind some spotting/streaking. Perhaps I didn't dry the car quickly enough. Anyway, I don't need the hassle and worry. I also like the NXT wash, as it seems to clean well and washes off the surface cleanly. NXT is a good wash to use if one plans to wax the car that day. Too bad one can't find it locally anymore.

The Meguiar's shampoo I'd like to try is M62. Kevin Brown speaks highly of it.

I do have a jug of Deep Crystal, which I use on my wheels and tires.

#62 is what I usually use for the regular soap.

I would say the UQW is going to be a better wax than the wax in the UW&W.

I have not gone out of my way to purchase UW&W recently.

I still think Super Soap is my favorite all around shampoo.

M62 is nice but it feels like washing with plain water.

At the local parts store this morning to pick up some claybar and whatnot, looking at shampoo they wanted $10 for UWW as well as the GC shampoo...
