  • New Car!

OK folks, got a new to me car, have yet to wash it with all the rain we have been having in PA. Anyway, it is a silver an 04 Acura TL. Looked to be in pretty good condition. I bought it at night, but was able to see it under the detailing shop lights. A few scuffs, but nothing too unexpected for a 7 yr old car.

So I did by a new wash mit. I also perused the detailing isle as autozone and found some new meg's tire gel (almost $9)-is this stuff worth it? Claimed to stay on a long time. I also have a need for leather cleaner. The black perforated leather shows some signs of white in the perforations, almost like something was spilled. And the dash looks a lil rough, almost like it was treated once, baked in the sun, and then never touched again. Again saw some interior restoration goop from meg's, (close to $9).

I suppose I am looking on recommendations for those three areas: tires, leather, dash/interior plastics.

If anyone else here has a TL and wants to provide tips for inside and out, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks!

    Re: New Car!

Tires are always tricky... I prefer the liquid sprays myself. The NXt Insane Shine gives a high gloss at first, dulls a bit quickly, and stays rich for a while. But cleaning the tires well before applying a dressing is also important.

For leather, cant go wrong with the Gold Class Leather Cleaner/Conditioner. The Gel would be best for perforated seats. If you needed deeper cleaning, they also make a 2-part cleaner and conditioner system.

For the dash, same thing, will want cleaned and then dressed. Quick Interior Detailer is a nice mild cleaner. Supreme Shine or Natural Shine are my preferred dressings.

Another option of course is Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner. This is bought in a jug, and then diluted with water in a sprayer. But it would work well as a cleaner for the tires, seats, dash, etc. And then following up with the appropriate dressing for each part.

For tires...I highly recommend Endurance tire gel. It's one of the best car care products I've ever used. It lasts forever...gives a great look...and a bottle will last you around a year!

I use Meguiars Ultimate quick wax for my plastics.

Blue Apollo, does the endurance have a glossy sheen to it? I prefer the glossy look, clean/flat black is nice, but I want a super gloss.

        Thanks!

I am also a frequent user of the Endurance Tire Gel and yes, the finish is high gloss. You can even apply a second coating if you're looking for more shine. I recommend it, and due to the oily-based formula it will last longer and does not rinse off in the rain like water-based dressings.
