Just bought a brand new Black Mercedes C350. I am pretty big on detailing but will need some advice/help on this one. I have almost every meguiar chemical there is out there so it wont be a problem. When I picked up the car, it was in the showroom and it was all shiny, the next day I toke it outside, it wasnt bad but I can see the swirl marks with the buffer. Can anyone give me step by step what to do, other than washing car etc. I dont currently have a buffer. Thank you everyone!!!

Re: Bought brand new Mercedes, help!!!
Welcome to the forum!
I can't imagine you have nearly every chemical Meguiar's makes, but don't have a buffer. So what products do you actually have? This will assist in making a recommendation. I don't see a point in laying out a process with a bunch of products you don't have. So post up whatcha got and we can go from there.

Alway start with the least aggressive product. So in your case, you could do a test spot (12" x 12") with a foam applicator and SwirlX. If that doesn't get your paint where you want it, then step up to the ScratchX 2.0, then Ultimate Compound. Check out this thread:

A dual action polisher would definitely make your life much easier, especially when working on Mercedes clear coat. I hear it's tough as nails.

Re: Bought brand new Mercedes, help!!!
Congratulations on your new car. I wasn’t familiar with the C350 so I looked it up and it’s a “beauty”. If you spend any time at all searching detailing forums regarding DA’s I think you’ll find two things. 1) most folks use either us Meguiar’s, Porter Cable or Griots. The second thing you’ll learn is that - there is no clear winner. Meguiar’s has “Cruse Control”, Porter Cable is very reliable and Griot’s is supposed to be the most powerful. So, rather than recommending one let me just say, do some home work and pick one. I’m sure you’ll enjoy any one of the three. Thanks.

Re: Bought brand new Mercedes, help!!!
Congrats on the new C350, I'll leave my input here since I have a black Mercedes (2007 CLK550) and I can attest to what others have said about Mercedes hard coat being hard as nails.
I had started with hand foam applicators and ScratchX, and then upgraded to Ultimate Compound. There were results, but it took a lot of elbow grease and time to get them. It took me an entire weekend to get 3 panels done and at that point, I was sick of it.
I bought the Meguiars D/A + the Microfiber Correction System, which arrived yesterday. I spent about 6-8 hours going over the entire car with the D300 and D301 in the system, and rolled it out onto the driveway this morning, WHAT A SHINE! Looks fantastic, all of the swirls are completely gone! I highly recommend getting a D/A if you really want to get all of those scratches and swirls out.
I plan to buy the 3" backing plate and microfiber pads so I can get some of the smaller surfaces on the front and rear bumpers, as well as the trunklid.

Re: Bought brand new Mercedes, help!!!
I would definetly advise the purchase of a machine polisher. M-B has a nanothechnology CeramiClear clear coat (read very, very dense (hard) paint.
My go-to polish for hard paint is Menzerna Power Finish PO203S with a Lake County (LC) Orange or a Green pad~ Providing unbiased advice that Professional and Enthusiast Detailer’s Trust ~ Blog – http://togwt1980.blogspot.com
