  • Does using Swirl-X, Deep crystal polish, NXTech Wax 2.0 will remove minor scratches?

Or would I need to use scratch-x to remove the minor scratches?

Also, about Swirl-X and Deep crystal polish,

when I apply it on car, do I have to wait until it gets dried?
or do I just apply them and remove them with dry towel?

What can I do about rock chips on the front bumper?

It depends on a lot of things - mainly the hardness of your paint and the depth/severity of the scratches, but I would certainly try the 3 products you mentioned as a start (do a test spot).

Failing that, step it up to ScratchX and (if needed) to UC.

SwirlX and DCP and any paint cleaner or polish for that matter do not need to dry before removing. The only products that need to dry/cure prior to removal are waxes/sealants.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

You should not need to follow SwirlX with Deep Crystal as the SwirlX should do basically anything the Deep Crystal will and then some. Start with the SwirlX, don't be afraid to use some pressure on the foam pad. Removing defects can at times be a fair amount of work.

If it gives you satisfactory results, then follow with NXT 2.0. If you find the SwirlX isn't strong enough to remove the swirls, you either need to confirm proper technique, or step up to a more aggressive product such as Scratch X 2.0. If that still won't do it, then it is time for Ultimate Compound.

As Davey suggested, do not let the polishes dry - only the wax.

As Davey and Mark mentioned successful paint correction will be based on several factors including its current stage, types of defects and paint hardness. SwirlX would be a good starting point to perform a test spot to see if results meet your expectations. This 2' x 2' test spot will reveal if your process works or you need a different (stronger) product(s).

Polishing step is optional but very rewarding on dark colored cars.

If the paint chips are deep (clear gone or primer exposed) you may need to perform touch-ups.

does this mean that you have to re=wax after polishing?

i have already put two coats of nxt 2.0 2 days ago, but created some swirls when i had wiped too hard with my mf towel today with just water. Can i use DC polish to remove the swirls, but then do i have to rewax again?

Yes, you should always re-wax after polishing.

As you've found out, wiping your car with just a MF and water was not a good idea. In future, use a detailing spray as a minimum, or if the car is even moderately dirty, just wash it.

DC polish may remove your swirls, or you may need to step it up to ScratchX or UC.

If you are meaning a pure polish, which with Meguiars means just oils, it wont have any cleaning ability itself.

But when you get an oily liquid, and start rubbing it over a surface, you are going to get some natural cleaning action also. And since the wax will be something oil related, you would get some dissolving also. So it is safe to say the wax would be disrupted.

You could compare to a spray wax, which is going to be misted and then wiped lightly over the surface, as opposed to rubbed in.
