  • Steps for applying

    Hi guys,

I have bought Smooth surface clay kit, NXT tech wax, swirl x, ultimate quick detailer, and deep crystal system polish

To apply there, what are to correct steps?

    I am thinking of...

    1.wet the car
2.wash the car with NXT car wash
3.car being wet, apply clay bar (is it right?)
4.rinse the car(? or wipe it?)
    5.wipe all waters
    6.apply swirl x then remove
7.apply deep crystal system polish, them remove
8.apply NXT tech wax, then remove
9.spray ultimate quick detailer all over the place, and then wipe

Which I think it is wrong... what would be an correct order?

Yup. be sure to watch the "How to Wash Your Car Showcar Style" video by Mike Phillips. Can search on here, or google it.

3.car being wet, apply clay bar (is it right?)
You can, but have to keep the car wet. Dont want it drying as water spots. But you'll use less QD, more water. It is not water only.

4.rinse the car(? or wipe it?)

If claying wet, rinse and dry. Otherwise, you would dry, then clay, and be wiping up the QD as you go.

    6.apply swirl x then remove
7.apply deep crystal system polish, them remove
Yeah, if just looking to clean, you can apply and remove the SwirlX. If you have swirls to remove, you have to work it in more. Can be a slower process.

8.apply NXT tech wax, then remove
    2 thin coats are recomended.
9.spray ultimate quick detailer all over the place, and then wipe
No real need, though can do a final wipe if needed.

So you mean with the car being wet, spray Quick Detailer on the surface where I am going to clay?

Can I clay the whole car and then rinse them? Will claying the whole car and rinsing them would leave clay water spots?

If you clay with it wet, yes. You will still need to spray QD where you clay.

Well, the car has to stay wet, so you'll be rinsing a few times.

The clay wont leave spots, it would be hard water spots from the tap water. Dont want to make more work for yourself removing more defects.

It can be a bit of a hassle to save a little QD.

            Re: Steps for applying

i've found that the best method (for me anyway) for claying, is to wash and thoroughly dry the car, and then clay using quick detailer only in smallish (maybe 2x2 foot sections) at a time, removing the QD as you go. Once you decide to focus in on a small area for awhile, youll find alot more to be removed than you can imagine if it hasn't been done in awhile. Take your time, at least if this is the first time you've clayed, or it has been a long time. Might as well do it right the first time!

There are three ways to clay:

              1. after washing a vehicle no rinse to let a car wash to be a lubricant (and adding some lubricant as needed),

              2. after washing and rinsing a vehicle no dry to leave a surface wet and using less clay lubricant,

              3. wash, rinse, dry and using a clay bar with designated lubricant.

I think No. 3 is the most popular one.

Some detailers wash a vehicle again after claying to make sure that clay/ lubricant residue is completely gone (optional step).
