  • Anyone using a vapor steam machine for exterior washing?

I've been checking out some of the vapor steam machine videos showing exterior car washing. Because I'm in a fixed location that I'd prefer not to have excess water runoff I thought it might be an option. I think they look ideal for interior cleaning and sanitizing, but haven't come across anyone actually using it for washing---although some of the equipment manufacturers say they have people using their machines for this purpose.

Have I? No....I have used my VX5000 to spot some areas with caked on dirt in hard to clean exterior areas. I do wish to purchase one of the big models that is capable of doing the exterior clean but I don't like the idea of having to wipe as you steam. I would be worried that I pick up a piece of debris in my wipe cloth and drag it across the surface.

I don't think a steamer would produce the volume or power of water needed to float and wash dirt off a car's finish. I think you will still need to use a wash mitt to adequately clean dirt off the surface.

Some of the steam machines have either a hot water or chemical injection that adds moisture to the steam to make it wetter, the Dupray Hill Injection steam cleaner was one I was looking at. But it's still not a lot of water, and it might be really slow to use. Daimer recommended their Supermax 7000, it looks like a hot water pressure washer. Being in the Midwest where the weather isn't great and lots of salt in the winter, I may have to rethink my desire for a steam machine for washing.

Some very high end vapor steamers sold here:

Look at the "NB2300". Would love to upgrade from my vx5000 for the power to do exteriors.
