Yeah, I'd consider an extra ounce or so added in. Dont really want to be under the ratio, I dont think.

Get it too strong and it will strip wax?

Murr, I agree that it is a delicate balance. Too little soap and you lose the lubrication and cleaning ability. Too much soap and it maybe difficult to rinse off with diminishing returns and wasting money.

I would venture a guess the ratio on the gun may not be exact either, so I go on the safe side.

I guess i figure I would use 4-5 ounces of soap for one wash in a bucket, so if i use 4-5 ounces of soap with the gun, no big deal even if more than needed. And at least I can save the water in the gun, not like just throwing out a bucket.

It's my thinking, while the chemicals in an automotive soap may not, in recommended dilution rates, remove wax. Above those recommendations and or combined with the mere mechanical action of washing the car, you may lose wax.

I would think Meguiar's recommendations are based on the best case scenarios for the broadest range of situations. A nearly impossible task given all the possible variables that come into play, but they do a great job!!

I never use the recommended ratio, I probably use more than I should be but its no big deal.

Being that Hyperwash has such a high dilution ratio (400:1), how would we dilute it to be used with the foam gun? Meguiar's other soaps specify 1oz to every gallon.

The lowest setting on the foam gun is 1oz to every gallon of water and the highest setting is 12oz to every gallon of water.

Well, you can play around a bit, but you could say:

                    - Use the 12oz per gallon setting. 12:128 = 1:10.6
                    - Using the quart size bottle, mix one oz soap in 32 oz of water. 1:32
                    - Final ratio: 1:340ish..

So could try that, or a hair less soap, or the next lowest setting on the gun... whatever you like.
