  • I Need Help Guys for this spot on my trunk

I have Gold 1997 Camry LE. And I already tried using an Orbital polisher and Ultimate Compound to this car then NXT gen wax. The finish is shiny especially if you look at the side, the surface is smooth but look from the top, you can see the lighter color spot. Thanks

Looks like clear coat failure, was this spot there originally or was it created after using the products??

If it's not clear coat failure and just dull paint, an orbital polisher and UC doesnt do much good other than spread the product. Believe me, i've wasted a lot of product trying. You may want to try a foam applicator and put some passion behind it.
Am i obsessed?? A car is the second biggest financial investment for most people, why not keep it looking better than new?

It was originally here before I used the product and it just shined the surface but it didn't remove the spot. Waht can I do?

You mean just a foam applicator? No products to put on?

Nothing can really be done for clear coat failure, other then a re-paint. Just have to gently polish and wax to try and slow it down.

Sorry, foam applicator and Ultimate Compound if you dont have access to a DA polisher. But from what the others are saying, it may be clearcoat failure and only repainting corrects.

Oh gosh. I am actually tempted to just sand it off with gritt 1500 and polish it and wax it. maybe it will disappear.

That is clear coat failure. Sorry, but no polish or compound will fix that...

Guys, my Camry is in the shop now for repainting of the whole car with 2 stage. They told me I don't really need to but I do not want my car har a little white spot on the trunk. My next question is I'm moving to Phoenix in the next couple weeks and my place there has no garage so my car will be baked under the sun. Do you think car cover is enough? The $50 car cover from pepboys? Another is what I only have at home is NXT Gen wax. Do you think that will good enough to preserve my new paint? And should I wax my car every month? Thanks.

Car covers, in a dusty environment, taken on and off daily, sounds like a recipe for scratches.

I would at least look around at the Covercraft car covers. Quite a few options, high quality. Probably more expensive, but same concern as above.

Next 2.0 or Ult wax would be best. You will likely want to be using either a cleaner/polish or pure polish before the wax though, to help prevent the paint drying out.

As far as how often, hard to say. If you wash regularly, and use UQW after each wash, you may find your wax lasts a 1, 2, 3 months before it feels like it is gone, who knows.

Yes, I will be removing it on daily basis. It's my daily car so in the morning, I will remove the car cover then at night when i get home, put it back. Other than car cover, anything you can recomend since I do not have a covered parking space for this car?

I'm sorry but I'm really new to these things. You mean I have to polish the car everytime I wax it? Thanks

Not really many other options... keeping it well detailed is about the other option, unless someone else knows something.

Well, I mean you dont have to. But it will be the polishing oils that help moisturize the paint. So will be good to do it some at least.

I thought wax alone is a moisturizer. Can I just polish my car with my hand? Or better use my orbital polisher?

Thanks a lot for the advise. Atleast now I know what to not only on my Camry but n all my cars.

Some of the waxes, like Gold Class+ or Ult Wax are considered Polish/Waxes, in that they have some polishing oils.

I would guess other waxes have some, but not considered enough to be a polish. ( at least Mrguiars products)

As far as a working by hand, something like the Deep Crystal Polush, with is a pure polish (oils only), or the Ult. Polish ( a mild cleaner and polishing oils) are certainly fine by hand.
