Light washing without water tips?

Hello

I wonder how i can avoid having to go the wash station and do the whole car wash combo, water, schampo, water, drying, quickdetail/quickwax etc. takes at least 1 hour.

Ive read that meguiars have a dry dustbuster kinda thingy that you begin with dusting the car after that you use quickdetailer and a lot of microfiber towels to clean the car witouh scratching surface.

now, how dirty can a car be to avoid scratching with this method?
pics if you have on example are most apreciated.

Say for instance, i did a good wash on my car on monday, its summer and sunny on thursday it rains and my black car looks like a mess. No hard dirt like mud, can i then safely use this method to bring back the shine?

ive tried searching with no luck, im from sweden so maybe i use the wrong words, please give me some good input on this one hoping to save lots of time here

Hi Eric,

You maybe discussing a couple of different methods. I talk about one I've learned and someone will be along shortly to discuss other successful methods.

First you need to start with a really clean car and one you have recently waxed and one you've hand washed using a high quality automotive soap, such as Gold Class or Ultimate Wash and Wax. After you've washed and then drizzle rinsed, you dry it. However as you dry, you spray a product like Ultimate Quik Wax over sections of the car and then dry those sections. This gives the car that added protection of the UQW and boosts that layer of wax you had put down prior (prior as in days or weeks prior) to washing the car. The UQW will also assist in drying the car.

So now within the next day or so your car gets a little dusty and I mean a little dusty not heavy dusty like from driving down a gravel country road or dusty like driving on a highway for a week, you will lightly use a tool called a California Duster to remove that ever thin and light coating of dust. After removing that light layer of dust with the California Duster, you will use a product called Ultimate Quik Detailer. You spray it over a couple of sections of the car and then using a high quality microfiber towel wipe those sections of car, gently removing the remaining dust and giving the car a thin, incredibly thin, actually just a whisper of a coating of UQD. Then using either a clean section of towel (remember you folded the towel in half and then half again) or a different high quality microfiber towel you gently wipe those sections of car again. Leaving, again, an incredibly thin layer of protection, fabulous shine and water repelling layer of UQD.

You do this dusting process/detailing routinely and depending on conditions, daily.

If the layer of dust is light enough at first and you don't have a California Duster, you can carefully use UQD and a microfiber towel right away. Always remembering, moving dust or dirt around on your car's finish has the chance of creating defects or swirls. Dust off your car with great caution.

You'll get in the habit or repeating this cycle of wash, UQW, dust off, UQD until it's time to wax again with your favorite wax, such as Gold Class, NXT 2.0, Ultimate Wax or whatever your prefer.

The problem you mention is that pain in the neck rain. If your car is relatively clean or only lightly dusted when it rains, you maybe able to get away with just using UQD to remove the few water spots you may have.

If your car was dusty verging on dirty before the rain you have a couple of choices; one a full blown hand wash or two, a quick no rinse wash using a product known as, or similar to, ONR, Optimum No Rinse. Someone will be along shortly to describe the use of ONR.

Using a dry duster, IMO, is only for very light dust accumulation, and only in a situation when the dust has not been bonded to the paint by the presence of moisture. If a car has been dampened by rain or dew, causing the dust to stick to the paint, it's then necessary to move to a waterless wash, such as Optimum Opti-Clean, or a rinseless product, such as Optimum No Rinse.

For a quick wash, I have used Optimum no-rinse with success. And it is great for cleaning windows.
