  • Can the bumper be treated as the rest?

Sorry if this question has been asked before. I couldn't find it.

Can I use paint cleaner, scrachtx, polishing and waxin in my bumper? Its a black bumper (kind of plastic) with the same car color and shine. It's a Mercedes SLK black

    Thanks
    Ray.

Yes, the paint products can be used on painted bumpers.

The only difference is that bumpers tend to heat up more easily than a metal panel when using a rotary buffer, which can cause problems. It's easy to work around, and if you don't have a rotary, you need not consider it a problem.

The new microfiber system with the DA generates more heat than the foam pad.....so check your paint temp when using this system. It's not as hot as a rotary, but definitely warmer than the foam pads. You have to bear down fairly hard to generate bigger temps, but it can get fairly warm if you are not careful.

I don't know if it is hot enough to cause an issue with the bumper....but better safe than sorry.

yeah, using machine would be another story. I just use my hands, but I wanted to be sure the scratchx or paint cleaner cannot remove the bumper paint.

Well I think the question has been fully answered. Thank you.

From my experience, using a DA also produces more heat. I noticed because the Ultimate Compound dries faster.
