  • In-Store Shopping...Chicago

Headed to Oak Brook this weekend and I would like to check out some stores and was seeking some suggestions.

I hadn't ever been to a PepBoys, but when I visited their web page there was promises of thousands of products; however, I could only find an orbital wax spreader and a California Duster.

Is PepBoys worth a stop and do you have other suggestions?

I'll go to Sherwin Williams auto paint store, or terrace supply. Better collection of pro products

      Also try the dealer locator

60523 and click the pro line option

Made it to Lombard and the Weber Grill about 8:30pm and Cheesecake Factory after that Friday night. Saturday morning after breakfast at Eggstacy, went to PepBoys and they have a huge collection of consumer products. If you spend $25, you get a free, red, 5-gallon, PepBoy bucket. Missing were Ultimate Wax and Ultimate Polish, although they had the new car and restore kits.

Next went to Terrace Supply (thank you for the tip) and yes plenty of pro chemicals. Plus they had foam pads, even 4". They had a bunch of empty, generic Meguiar's spray bottles with grey spray heads. Resisted the urge to buy those.

Didn't make it to Sherwin-Williams. End up supporting the retail economy elsewhere. Dinner and drinks at Wildfire or was it drinks and drinks? I'm the "DD", so the NY Strip was good.

PepBoys have, in my opinion, the largest selection of car care products of the O'Reilly, AutoZone, and Advance Auto group.

Need to find a touch less car wash. Snow and rain yesterday messed up car. A clean car is an economical car

        Thanks Murr and Kubbie

Good - so what did you get?

As for culinary advice, good call on Wildfire. Always a good meal.
I would skipped Weber though. I think it's over priced for the food.

Next time in Oakbrook, hit the Clubhouse, great steaks and lobster bisque...

Sort of a scouting trip, no purchases. Although "ShineMonkey" products caught my interest at PepBoys and even though I haven't welded in years, some awesome welding helmets at Terrace.

Perhaps you've heard of "Oklahoma Joe's" in Kansas City?

Weber Grill was a great choice...right there on Butterfield Rd, there are a lot of great restaurants. I used to live about 10 minutes from there.

The one downtown is so "chicago" noisy, crowded and a bit smokey, but no where to park!

I used to do all my car care shopping at Pep Boys...back in the day. Then I discovered the internet! Amazon.com is the place!

I like shopping on the internet, but I really like walking into a store and picking up bottles of chemical and reading labels, looking for items reduced in price and running across things I hadn't been looking for. Such a consumer.....

Meguiar's and 3M, although there may have been others I didn't notice.

Their web page is under construction

What Terrace location did you go to? We're headed to Chicago this weekend and might look the place up. I do see they have several places, but I'm not that familiar with where a lot of things are.

Fyi, call Terrace to check prices and what items they stock. They can get Meg's stuff in a day or two if you need a specific product that is not inventory.

We went to Villa Park. It was closest to the PepBoys.

                              Check this web page

That photo shows more product than the store we went to. Perhaps Kubbie recognizes which store that is.
