  • Waxed wheels - Then stored during winter

    Happy Spring Time.

I have a question about wax longevity. I waxed my "summer" wheels last fall when I took them out of service and install my "winter wheels" with snow tires.

    1. My question is, if I used M21 on my wheels back in November and they sat in my basement in the dark for the last 5 months or so, is the wax protection still active or do you think I need to reapply more before using them again?

    2. Does wax PROTECT longer if the wax is applied and not washed, or does washing not effect its protection/longevity if it is washed weekly vs once every 2-3 months?

    1. No reason wax should wear off.

    2. Well, anything you touch a surface, and dont add wax, you are removing it. Proper washing removes as little as possible.

If you were to use a wheel cleaner, most wax would be removed.

Keep in mind that the wheels are in a very different environment than the car paint, so a wax lasting 3 months or whatever on the car will not last the same on the wheels.
