  • Swirls

It seems everyone has this problem, but I have been trying to get rid of the swirl marks in my Tbird.

I tried to get the swirls out the way Meguiars recommended, but after three applications of swirl x, and then another three of ultimate compound, the swirls were hardly affected. I used one of your foam applicator pads to apply the products, and the supreme shine microfiber to remove them. Any ideas to get rid of the swirls?

It seems that my paint could be very hard. These swirls are driving me nuts!
I've been told I'm obsessed with my car, but I've got the cleanest car on the block!

Sounds like you will need to invest in a dual action polisher.

Also, how are you applying the products? You cant just wipe them around either. Need worked in well over a small area at a time.

As Mkurr suggested, many times a fair amount of force (elbow grease) is required to remove stubborn swirls. Many automotive finishes are very hard, and it takes force to push the compound/polish into the paint and level out the defects.

Also, working a small area is very key for defect removal. Maybe stick to a square foot or so and see if that helps.

If this clarifies it at all, I worked the production in until it nearly dried. I don't have a garage and was forced to do it in the sun, so it dried extremely fast. (It was about 65 outside). Would working in the shade produce different results? Oh, and even though I was in the sun, the metal was still cool to the touch.

When I worked the products in, (using the hood as an example) I divided the hood into 4 sections and did one section at a time.

IMHO - You just can't do by hand what you can do with a DA machine.

Could be hard paint. But 4 sections may well be too big of an area, esp by hand. I would try focusing on a smaller area.
