Re: Razor blade to remove paint overspray?
My company uses a blading process alot. Jeff is right before clay was invented you bladed and polished every vehicle. When a vehicle is severly overspray with epoxy, clay is not going to do the trick unless you are able to blade off the top surface of the paint. Knowing how to safely remove overspray, using the blading process is what makes you an overspray removal expert! We have use this process on brand new vehicles without any problems.

Re: Razor blade to remove paint overspray?
Like Andy said, I highly suggest everyone (not pointing fingers at anyONE) should remember that this is MOL, and we hold a higher standard than most forums. Keep it FRIENDLY and please no personal attacks AT ALL.
This is a forum to learn and help others learn about detailing... although this method may seem absolutely crazy, we might end up learning something here in the end. Keep an open mind and a courteous set of fingers

Re: Razor blade to remove paint overspray?
I should have stepped away from the keyboard, but it was 420 and I got a little offended by some of the comments. For everyone that thinks they know something about overspray removal, I have this to say to you. If the clay bar had never been invented how would you all be able to remove the type of epoxy overspray damage as demonstrated in my videos ? You would not even know what overspray was, so now that Mequiars and others have invented the clay everyone is an overspray specialist ? I would like to see some videos other than mine when I Google, Yahoo, or Bing "paint overspray removal" The worldwide internet has done their research boys and only list my videos for overspray removal. Until someone makes a video that can match my work this will STAND!

Re: Razor blade to remove paint overspray?
Everyone should do a little research before making a comment. Go to facebook,Youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion and watch more than just one video. I am blading some of these vehicles while the owner, insurance adjuster, and contractor is observing. I then take black trucks in the direct sun light with the owner to prove that my work is unmatched. I say unmatched because everyone likes to make comments but has no real videos to prove that they even know what they are commenting about. You will also notice that the work done in my BMW videos is preformed 5 feet away from two service technician that talk very loud. This work is done under intense lighting while two guys like you all that comment, can't believe that someone is able to remove overspray in such a manner. So you know they were waiting and watching to see if I was damaging their $37,000 dollar M-5 coupe. I invented several techniques to remove overspray from trim and molding pieces. I linked the video to my facebook for all of you to see. By the way you can't photo shop moving images. none of this work has ever been duplicated by anyone !

Do not take this as directed at you personally nor am I suggesting your photographs are 'adjusted'
People tell lies cameras don’t; this adage was a truism before digital cameras and software like Photoshop

Re: Razor blade to remove paint overspray?
My Name is Jeff Suggs the maker of the video above, long before the clay bar was invented this was and still is my chosen method to remove any type of overspray when the clay bar cannot. I have over 23 years experience in this method of removing overspray. I never hide any of my cleaning methods, you will notice in my videos that I am blading vehicles while the owners, insurance adjusters, and paint contractors observe. I also us a Sony DSC-HX1 HD camera to prove that there is no damage occurring during the cleaning process. "People tell lies cameras don't" I have also invented several methods to remove epoxy overspray from any type of trim and molding pieces, textured or smooth. I have a technique to remove hard water stains from your vehicles paint, glass, and even office buildings glass and their frames. None of my work has ever been duplicated by anyone.

Re: Razor blade to remove paint overspray?
I've actually used a single sided razor blade to remove yellow paint from a black Cadillac CTS...he ran over fresh road paint...only way to get it off was Goo Gone and a blade and plenty of PATIENCE...yes there were some scratches but nothing that didn't come out...customer was very happy....don't know that I would want to make a living from doing that

Originally posted by JLN Overspray View PostI own and operate a nationwide overspray removal company. The cleaning process he is using is called blading. Not very many people can do it. I have used him on some of my overspray jobs in the past. He does good work. There are only a handfull of guys in the country that can safely blade a vehicle, luckly most of them work for me. When a vehicle is heavily covered in industrial paint overspray clay will not touch it! You have to blade the top of the overspray off before the clay will work.

Re: Razor blade to remove paint overspray?
Personally, I'd like to learn how to do it. So what if you put a little scratch in the paint, just buff it out.
