  • DISO Mistake

Well fellas I just fell victum to the DISO option. I had to take my car in for its last free check up at the dealer and get an alignment performed after I lowered my car. I didnt think twice about not telling them not to wash it since I just gave her her weekend wipedown. She was completley spot free when I handed over the keys and I fiugured i wouldnt have to say a word about it believing that that wouldnt waste their time with a spot free car. What a rookie mistake. When it was time to get the car, the lot attendant and I stepped outside to get the car but the car was no where in sight. I asked where is my car? And I got a "oh its in the wash rack getting a wash". I yelled NOOO!!! And i took off over to the wash rack to find my car coming out the backside of the automatic wash. They pulled the car alongside me still dripping wet and ran a few ugly towels over it to dry it. I then just calmly said to my self I guess this is what I get for not saying not to wash my car. And you know they loaded up my tires full of their tire shine bologne only for it to sling down the side of my car once I got on the highway. I was so iretated that I came straight home and parked her in the garage and got in my commuter and went to work.

On the plus side they were using Meguiars detailer line in the wash rack. I saw numerous detailer line bottles so that comforted me a bit knowing that the were using quality products. I looked over the damage that was done and most of it was water streaking and normal towel marks. When I returned home my D/A microfiber starter set was sitting on my front porch that I had ordered. So I guess it could have been worse right?

Hopefully they didn't just fill empty Meguiar's bottles with el cheapo whatever product!

Wow, I hear you, Mike. Nothing more frustrating than somebody taking away your spotless paint finish.

I looked at dealership's parking lot couple weeks ago and saw vehicles ready for customers' pick ups and they were all swirled after washing. It looks like this part of the industry is not willing to change.

        Hi Smack,

Been there . My VW went in for some recall work on the dsg box. Car was clean. I stressed to the service Manager please dont wash the car. He explained its all part of the service sir.

I pointed him to a black beetle in the showroom. I dont want my VW looking like this. DISO. He was not amused but made a note on my file.

2 days later got a call your car is ready to collect. Went into the reception and the service manager was no around. Just bringing your car round sir its had a wash

Car was covered in light swirls all over So out with the d/a

        Car looks flawless again

Its unreal that you can still till them not to wash it and they say they make a note of it on your paperwork but somehow it gets washed. I think from now on im not going to waste my time/breath telling them not to wash the car becuase its going to happen anyway. I have all the tools/products/knowledge to take care of the swirling that comes from a wash so I will just mentally prepare myself for it and set a day afterwards to give my car some more love. So either Sunday or sometime next week I will get out my newly acquired D/A system and make love to the finish with it. Lol.

Nothing better or more relaxing than spending time in the garage maintaining your pride and joy with Meguiars.

Here's what you do. Make a sign on some printer paper. It should read..." If you want my business......"DO NOT WASH MY CAR" Make 3 copies...laminate them if you want. Tape one to the inside of each front window and tape one to your steering wheel...works like a charm!
            Black......the ONLY color!

              Re: DISO Mistake

I got the LISO the other day on my Mustang, that I just spend three days detailing in February, if it makes you feel any better. My landlords (the "L") decided they needed to water some plants they just put in with no sort of nozzle or anything on the end of the hose (I bought one specifically to water the plants, the one that makes it like a shower, that sits right on top of the hose so there wouldn't be any splashing anywhere, by anyone, that uses the hose.) Anyways, in doing so, they somehow managed to splash mud and water all over the front half of the Mustang and Neon. Instead of just telling my GF, who was home, they decided to grab a "really soft sheet" and wipe my cars down because "they know I don't like waterspots on my car." Yup, a few days worth of dust and now mud (grit) and water wiped into the paint. They "don't see how they could have possibly scratched the paint" since they used a "really soft sheet."

As well-intentioned as it was, I still haven't talked to them since then. They've "borrowed without asking" other things of mine and used them whenever before (my shovels and rakes...my now-old brand-new wash bucket I had just bought to dump old, dirty building materials into and so on), so at the same time...I just don't know what to even say about it. I guess the next time I get like 6 free hours with cooperating weather conditions, I can hopefully fix the paint. I swear...

You can always return the favor for your land lords if you have a snow fall. Just clean the snow from their cars with a shovel. Surely a plastic shovel cant harm the paint right? Lol.

In all seriousness that really is upsetting that you put so much time and effort into the mustang only for it to be ruined by the neighbors. I know they were trying to be nice and remove the water spotting for you but they should have let your gf know.

Yeah, I made her call them, lol. I just don't want to hear it :\ They probably use a shovel or a broom or something to remove the snow anyways...
Depending how tomorrow goes, I may try and wash the car, and then go over the front real well with D151 again as I don't have any papers or what have you due in class Thursday...

                    Re: DISO Mistake

I can relate. I had my car in for service this week (made sure they didn't wash it), but they decided to help themselves to demoing my custom car stereo. They went into my advanced settings and set everything but one section to default - mind you - I have 165 bands of equaliziation per channel, for 4 channels plus a sub.

I personally spent AT LEAST 30 hours tuning each and every band. I also had applied time correction on a per speaker basis. This was done 3 years ago, so I don't remember all the math or settings.

It's all gone now... I have to re-research everything and start from scratch because my entire system is 100% electronically crossed over... no passive crossovers at all. Lovely.
