  • "@Starter" Kit

Hello, I plan on purchasing a G110v2 as soon as they come back in stock and was wondering what products you recommend I should buy with it. I've already got a couple of buckets with grit guards, a few good mits, chamois, car soap and clay bars.

Short term, I have 2 projects: a 2001 light blue Nissan Sentra 99.9% covered in swirls, spiderwebs, etc... with a few light sratches and streaks which I'd like to correct as much as possible. The car hasn't been washed very often, probably never been waxed or detailed. The other is a new black Nissan Cube with 2000 miles. Paint is in pretty great shape with almost no DISO.

From what I've been reading in the last few days, here's wheat I was planning on:

    -APC+
    -105 Compound
    -205 Polish
    -NXT2 Wax
    -A few MF Towels
    -Water Magnet
    -3" backing plate
    -A few 6" and 4" Yellow pads
    -A few 6" and 4" Red pads
    -A few 6" and 4" Black pads

The Sentra correction will be a bit of a challenge and 105/205 combo seems to be rather popular and a good starting point. I don't really want to buy 5 different types of polishes and compounds, so I'm looking for the best "all-around". Would ScratchX 2 or Ultimate Compound be a better choice? And what abount engine cleaners and dressing?

Thanks in advance for your inputs and suggestions!

Ultimate Compound is less aggressive than M105 but it's gonna give you much longer buffing cycle without drying out. It would be a good choice for your G110v2. Also on paints which are more on the delicate side M105 may be much too aggressive.

Your DA polisher will come with W68DA backing plate which is perfect for use with Soft Buff 2.0 buffing pads (7" diameter) which are machine washable. 4" pads need S3BP backing plate.

APC can be used as an engine cleaner as well.

It looks like you missed clay bar kit, glass cleaner and tire dressing. For interior cleaning APC is fine but Quik Interior Detailer will give you a faster application.

Burgundy cutting pads are not recommended for use with DA polishers. Yellow polishing pads and black finishing pads will cover your needs.

I like a cutting pad + MF bonnet for removing wax.

            -A few 6" and 4" Yellow pads
            -A few 6" and 4" Red pads
            -A few 6" and 4" Black pads
The pad you will use most will be the yellow polishing pads, followed by black finishing pads. The red cutting pad is the one you will use the least.

When ordering, use a simple 3:2:1 ratio of pads in their order of utility. For example, if you are buying 6 pads, order 3 yellow, 2 black, 1 red. If you double that number, then 6 yellow, 4 black, 2 red.

Think of the 3:2:1 ratio is a loose guide and not a hard and fast rule. I found it to be a good rule of thumb when I started out.
