  • Curious about the 25 pack of Simoniz Microfibre towels at CT

    Hi folks,

A question for the experienced past users of the following product.

I'm wondering if it would be worth while picking up a couple of packages of the Simoniz Microfibre towels that Canadian Tire has on sale at the monent (25 pack for $11.99). I can't seem to be able to find a product number anywhere, but the package has orange, yellow, blue or purple? and green towels in it. I thought maybe they might be at least ok for interior cleaning, but if they're ok for exterior that would be even better.
I've never bothered with Simoniz products in the past, but since it seems to be an ok price I thought I might look into it further.

Should I pass on them or grab a couple of packages for general cleaning or possibly using on the exterior?

    Thanks,
    Rick...

I bought the Simoniz 25 pk from CT a few months ago for just $7.99....the light blue & white ones, they worked pretty good on paint, interiors, wheels...etc.

I figure these colorful ones will work just as good....I saw them at CT yesterday, think there's already a hole on the package so you can touch em.....

Sale ends on Thurs.....but knowing CT...they will be on sale soon enough

A quick general review from a guy that has no previous experience with microfibre towels:

I picked a package of them up this morning. I'm not sure what a good microfibre towel should feel like, but they feel maybe a little on the thin side yet fairly soft and sturdy.

They are 13 3/4" X 13 3/4" and measure approx 1/8" thick on the edges with the fibres maybe being slightly thicker. The edges feel soft enough all around with no sign of hard points. The fibres seem to hold in place very well (I tried pulling several single threads and they held nicely with none actually pulling out)

All I did as a quick test is clean off my flat screen monitors and 62" TV screen. A light spray of water on each screen then a semi-firm (medium pressure) wipe down using the towels actually did a very good job. I was impressed with their general cleaning power (A couple of the screens were very dirty with several months of set in smudges from finger prints and dust). After the cleaning using a clean/dry towel I gave them a final wipe down with minimal pressure or effort and there was not a streak to be seen. There were a few spots that needed a few passes, but everything turned out very nice when done.

I'm sure they're not the best towels, but for the sale price they seem to be a a very good deal. I would recommend these even if only used for general purpose cleaning. When I get around to working on my vehicles I will post my thoughts.

I'll be stopping by CT later today to pickup a few packages of these towels. I have a feeling these particular 25 packs are not a regular item. I shop at CT fairly regularly and have not noticed these packages in the past. I do get a charge out of finding a good deal on most anything and tend stock up on items when a good sales turns up.

            Note:
I have confirmed a couple of local Canadian Tire stores are sold out, but other stores have some stock left. If you want a 25 pack or two of these I'd say get'em while you can.

The Canadian Tire weekly flyer has a mis-print. The flyer shows the towels as "Like Wise" microfibre detailing cloths (light blue and white cloths). The stores are in fact selling the Simoniz multi color 25 packs.

              Sales ends tomorrow (Thursday/March/31/2011)

Not the same towels. Besides the color difference, the package I have has 13 3/4" X 13 3/4" towels.

CT also has 4 litre jugs of Spray Nine on sale

I thought I would give the few folks that read this thread a heads up while the thread is active and the sale is still available.

Canadian Tire also has Spray Nine 4 litre jugs on sale for $14.99 CAD which is a great deal for the 4 litre jugs.

I've used Spray Nine for years and it has always worked very well for me for general cleaning around the house and vehicles (interior and wheels). I picked up a few jugs this morning which should last me for a long time. I can confirm from previous experience that Spay Nine's shelf life seems to be pretty much un-limited as long as the container is sealed properly. I've opened and used a bottle of Spray Nine that was previously opened at least 10 - 12 years before and it worked as good and smelled as fresh as a new bottle.

                  Sale ends tomorrow (Thursday/March/31/2011)

                  Side Note:
I was disappointed this morning when I was not able to find a bottle of "Meguiar's Rich Leather Aloe Conditioner" locally, but I'll be keeping an eye for it. I was looking forward to giving it a try.

Anyone know where I might some around the GVRD? preferably South Surrey/Langley area.
