  • Few Questions.... (New Microfiber Kit, DA Polisher, Do I need anything else?)

Alright Guys, Ive said this before, Im really new and have lots of questions. So first well start with the new microfiber cleaning system/DA polisher question.

1: Looking forward to getting my G110v2, going to make cleaning a lot easier. But I saw the new microfiber cleaning setup. I was originally planning to get just the G110v2 and 6 pads (2 of each). But Now I'm puzzled, should I get the 6 pads? Just 1 of each? Just the Microfiber setup? or both?

2: Also, Im going to throw up my list of current products. (90% were Meguiars RX Recommended) Tell me if you think I'm missing anything, I already have a butt load of MF cloths so there not on the list. Stared (*) items are things I don't have or are back ordered.

Is this set for your private use or also for other cars' detailing?

It looks like you still need paint cleaners and polishes. Ultimate Compound as paint cleaner and Ultimate Polish as paint cleaner/ polish will cover this areas. ScratchX is more suitable for small jobs, like isolated scratches and blemishes.

Don't buy burgundy cutting pad as you won't use it with your DA polisher.

I would also add 6-pack of Soft Foam Applicators. They are great for product applications.

You may also consider (buy in the future) 4" buffing pads which are great for small areas and tight spaces. Two of yellow polishing and black finishing pads will give you a nice start (S3BP backing plate is needed for those pads).

Wait a minute....are you the lottery winner??

That's quite the list of products. I'm a little jealous. I've always been swayed by the word Ultimate in the Meguiar's product names. Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Protectant, Ultimate Wash and Wax, Ultimate Quik Detailer, Ultimate Quik Wax, Ultimate Polish, and Ultimate Wax. I tried to get them first thinking they would make me the Ultimate Detailer, although it didn't work that way.

Greg's comments, as always, are right on. I'm just a little curious too. Do you have a specific car or cars in mind? Have you worked on them before? Or are you jumping into business right from the start?

I may have missed that information. If you could refresh my memory, it would be helpful.

Its mostly for me, but more then likely will be me and a friend or two or so. But yes. Private Collection.

Ultimate Compound was on my list... must not have copied over its the last thing.

        thanks for the tip!

Ive picked up a few non-meguiars foam applicators, and mf towels and stuff in a kit from sams.

Might go ahead and get that now... when I buy everyhting for the polisher.

Actually no. What happened was.... I got a coupon where I could save either
20% off or $10 off $30, $30 off $75, $50 off $150, at advance. I placed my order online, and had it for pick up at my local store. Saved some big bucks. Then bought some stuff on ebay and haggled the shipping down to beat meguiars and saved a bunch.

Mainly this is me on my own car. I used to be a .... car wash soap in a bucket, wash on, wipe off with a bath towel person. The one say someone was like.... "you should really clay your paint"...."wattt????" so I started looking into it. Found this site, and decided to go all in for the kill. And being the american I am, I dont want to work too hard so I figured Id get the buffer. [/self rant] [/I]

This is mainly for my 1966 Mustang Coupe, fully restored, and daily driven.

I'm 18, and new to the cleaning word, So I figured, why the hell not.

I may have missed that information. If you could refresh my memory, it would be helpful.
See Comments above, and thank you!

          1. Looking over my list, I have Ultimate Protectant*#*G14716. and Quik Out #G15922 I mis-read in my mass ordering Ultimate Protectant's description and discovered It dosen't actually clean and protect, It just protects. So, My question. Should I buy / what should I buy a cleaner for my vinyl interior?

          2. Is there a big difference when applying product when using the foam applicator pad vs the MF even coat applicator?

            Three options:
            mild - Quik Interior Detailer,
            medium - M40 Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner/Conditioner,
heavy - M39 Heavy Duty Vinyl Cleaner.

You could also use: D101 All Purpose Cleaner or D103 All Purpose Cleaner Plus controlling their strength by dilution ratio but they come in gallon size.

            2. Is there a big difference when applying product when using the foam applicator pad vs the MF even coat applicator?

Soft foam applicator pad will provide more cleaning ability, MF applicator is more gentle.
            I hope it helps.
