  • Dried concrete

Hey everyone, I went to see my mom & dad the other day and she told me to come check out her car. I found spots of rock hard dried concrete on the body of the car in different spots. PLEASE HELP ME by giving me some suggestions on how to remove this concrete from the car! (if possible) Thanks for ALL your help.

    Re: Dried concrete

I want to say I have heard letting vinegar soak on the concrete will soften it up. Just be VERY careful about not dragging it along the paint when wiping it off.

Concrete? Like it splattered from something nearby? Wow! Like Mark said, being careful is definitely the key here. Clay bar? Gently!

Ok, don't laugh. Sugar will break down the concrete. If you can soak it in a solution of sugar water it will break it down. I am thinking Coke might work. A heavy syrup solution would also work. Your going to have to get creative to build a little well to hold the liquid.

Try it on a test spot!!!

Scrape it off w/ a single edge razor. Sometimes you have to break an egg to mke an omellette.

Give it a good blast with a pressure washer first.

                    Hi 30th97z

Looks like the great minds of AllenB #5 above and Kornercarver #9 above are on the right track.

Go with the sugar first and if all fails then spend a few bucks.

Sure would be a lot better than a repaint.

Keep us posted as there are lots of us that would like to have the answer to removing concrete.

                    Best of luck.

                    Have a great weekend.

                      Re: Dried concrete

                      I found this as well:
                      Concrete Spots:
Calcified water spots on paint and glass, water and concrete spots are pretty much the same chemically - calcium carbonate, with the concrete being cross-linked with water

                      Methodology
•Apply 1:1 ratio water with distilled White Vinegar solution, and using a spray bottle, spray that mixture on the spots and let them "soak." Then rinse with water and repeat as necessary.
•If the ambient temperature water/vinegar mix does not work, warm (100-120 degrees) 100% distilled White Vinegar, saturate a clean kitchen sponge with pure vinegar and hold the sponge over the concrete spots for a few minutes.

•If the above do not remove them try equal parts distilled water, isopropyl alcohol and distilled white vinegar. The acid in the vinegar will help etch and dissolve the concrete.
•Rinse the area thoroughly with water after the vinegar and then reapply wax or sealant to that area.
