  • Anyone tried bug sponge/pad?

    Hi,

Anyone tried a bug sponge/pad when they wash their car? They claim to be safe to the finish and lift away the bugs and tar. Just throw in a bucket of soap water and go, just as with a wash mitt.

Sometimes I encounter bugs that sit pretty firmly to my finish. On the somewhat horizontal hood, I put a wet towel and let it soak for a while. On the vertical bumper though, it can be tricky and I'm affraid to work my wash mitt to aggressively against the finish.

Just wondering, if a bug sponge would be the way to go? Or if I should get a bug spray of some kind?

    Suggestions are welcome.

    Greetings from Denmark.

Are you talking about what appears to be a hard yellow perhaps block of open-pored material? Works well, despite looking like it would scour the devil out of the paint or clearcoat.

How is it different from a "normal" sponge?
Do you just work it light against the bugs or how hard is it safe to tackle it?

Mine works well, I wouldn't use it on my clear bra however.

I use it just like any other sponge. Dip it in the bucket and go to town. It seems like its kind of a rough sponge but i dont see a difference if it harms the paint or not. The bugs and other **** on the car just come off when using it
