  • After a heavy sandstorm hit, what is next?

A heavy sandstorm hit the country, and my new Maxima is fully covered with fine dusts even it is stored in a garage but because of the openings in the garage the dust found its way to get in.

So after the storm is over what should I do to clean the car properly. Detailed step by step process is highly appreciated.

Wash your car. Go ahead and make sure to rinse it really really well when you do the first rinse down. I'd suggest using a high pressure setting on the nozzle to try to blow all the debris off. Make sure to wash with the 2 bucket method with grit guards, and rinse your mitt often. Look at the mitt as you wash to see how much dirt is building up on it. Rinse as often as needed (you may have to rinse a few times per panel).

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

Do you have any water restrictions, etc?

        No water restrictions at all...

I would rinse with a hosepipe nozzle using the shower/gentle mode. I would think that high pressure would force the sand deeper into the paint. I rather use lots of water to allow the sand to just fall off.

Then yeah, a good rinse, maybe an extra splash of soap in the wash bucket. Be sure to rinse mitt often, even changing rinse water often if needed.

That sandstorms are nasty over there. There are larger particles on the ground but the stuff that's blown around alot is almost the consistency of talcum powder but abrasive and can find it's way into every nick and cranny. If you added a handful to M07 you'd make something like M04 or M105. It's not fun if you get caught outside in this stuff. I've been in some where I couldn't see 3 feet in front of me.

What's worse is if you get the infrequest rainstorm that's picked up all of the fine stuff and it rains down mud. We got these in Turkey mostly, with the sand picked up from North Africa. Everything gets coated in a drab tan sludge.
