  • Washing Foam Applicator Pads?

I know there have been threads about this and I've read them, but my question is:

I just purchased a bunch of soft foam applicator pads for Megs, and I want to know if I should wash them prior to their first use? If so, is it safe to put them in the washer with the microfiber cloths and washmitt?

    The hand applicators?

THey really dont need it if they were packaged and clean. If they were on a store shelf, dirty, etc, a wash wont hurt.

I tend to clean them by hand in a bucket seperate.

I also never wash them prior to first use.

I generally just rinse them out after using them to keep them fairly clean.

Okay, I ordered them from the Meguiars site, so they came in a box and everything. They seem pretty clean, so I'll just let them be; the washmitt and cloths are in the washer right now.

I'll try that rinsing method, but still try to keep the pads separated based on what I used them for originally.

I put my used pads in ZipLok baggies, mark the bag with the product and they are ready next time I need them. No need to wash them after each use that way.

Depending what i am applying i sometimes give them a quick spritz with QD to soften them a little.

So my plan to keep them all organized failed, since my girlfriend dropped one after another, so I ended up having a "dirty pile" of foam applicator pads. I have them soaking in a sink of hot water right now, but there's one pad that I'm having trouble cleaning: the one with the wax in it. No matter how well I clean it, wax just keeps oozing out when I squeeze it, I've finally given up and have a separate zip-loc baggy for it.

Probably need some dishsoap in with them.

                    And dont seal the baggy...

I have them in the washer now along with the rest of the dirty microfiber towels. I've left the pad with the wax out of it, I'll just use that one for waxing the next time. It seems like the ScratchX and polish I used on the pads came right out, but the wax doesn't want to.

Well.. the wax is meant to stay on a surface, and resist cleaners, etc.
