Seen this at Lowes yesterday when I was snooping around looking for 7424 or 7336. It seems to look identical to the other 2, but is called a sander/polisher.

Can this be used in place of the 7424 or 7336? It comes with a polishing pad as well.

    Thanks

Yes, it is the newer version of the 7336, with the 4.5 amp motor, and can be used for car paint polishing, it is the same thing as the 7424xp in the end. You will, however, want to purchase some other polishing pads other than the one white one that comes with the polisher.

It looks like you're gonna be fine:

the same thread size, the same orbits/min range as 7424 XP just 0.5 lbs. heavier and it can be used as a sander as well.

Does this polisher/sander have the same size orbit as the 7424XP? That's the one piece of info I don't see in the specs.

              What's the price for it?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

              I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
              Remove swirls my friends.

129.00 in Virginia Beach as well. Where's the best place to get the backing plate and how much?

I purchased this exact model at Lowes. After I purchased it I asked myself the same question and found that its the same but the counterweight will take a 6" or 7" pad and that its advertised as a sander. I love it but still working on my technique. Mine went for 129 as well but was lucky in having a 15% off coupon from the mail. As for backing plate I ordered mine from Autogeek with a set of pads (they were having a sale).

I took mine back to Lowes and got GV110V2. Problem with 7336 that as soon as you apply little pressure it quits spinning.

I have to agree with Mark, my PC7336 stops spinning with almost no pressure. I thought it was just me.

For few extra bucks get a GV110V2 it will be worth every penny. BIIIIG difference between the two. Try it and if you don't like it take it back.
