  • Wool Cutting Pad Question

    Hello,

I recently went out and purchased the Meguiar W4000 Wool Pad and have a question about it's use.

First, I applied some compound on the pad and went to work on an area with some minor scratches and swirls on speed 5 with my PC. I noticed no difference, only that I now had lint everywhere. Am I using this pad correctly? Any advice?

Yes, you are using the W4000 incorrectly. It's for rotary buffing only.

What are you working on? Which foam pads and product combinations have you tried?

      Re: Wool Cutting Pad Question

As Paul states, the W4000 wool pad is for rotary use only - as is the case with all of our wool pads (and virtually all wool pads, regardless of manufacturer). But the scattering of wool you see from a fresh pad is pretty normal - you'd see the same thing if you used it on a rotary, unless you spurred it first or ran it through a pad washer.

But what really surprises us is that you didn't see a ton of bad swirling and marring in your paint after using this pad on a DA - we would have expected that, which is the main reason we recommend to NOT use this pad on a DA.

Again, to reiterate Paul's questions - what are you working on, what have tried thus far, and what issues are you facing?
