  • Need some help with swirls and waterspots, Pictures.

I don’t have any machines to wax/buff my car just do it by hand. I have some tec spray wax, a bottle of tec wax and scratchX. I have a car I drive on weekends, the rest of the time its in the garage. It is nearly 20 years old, paint is original and looks great but when you are close and its in the sun you can see swirls. The other day I just wanted to rinse of the wheels with the garden hose and got some water on the hood, didn’t wipe it of and now have some really bad water spots on it. I just got done waxing a part of the hood, it looks a lot better then the un-treated area but if you get up close you can see the water spot circles. Anyone care to give me some advice?

Heres a link to some pics of it.

Thanks for the help in advance

Apply the ScratchX, work in thoroughly, wipe off excess and then apply NXT Tech Wax.

You may need to apply the ScratchX 2-3 times depending on how bad the water etchings are.

ok, i do that but i have a problem, when i apply i get a very dark gray dust look on the applicator pad. Thats only when i work the scratchX in for a while. I know the paint is clean but is there dirt on it i cant see?

        Hey,

If you are pulling a color up while using ScratchX, it sounds like you have single stage paint. I assume this happens no matter where you use the ScratchX?

To remove deep water marks as Mike said, you will have to really work in the ScratchX until it is only a real light film of residue.

        Please keep us posted!

well i dont think its really pulling paint of, because some spots does not do it. I think there might be dirt you cant really see just by looking at it. Im just going to wash it really good and then wax it to see if i can get the waterspots out. If you look at the pictures i have of it you can see it really looks clean, and it looks the same in person. It does have clearcoat over the paint.
Should i use some kind of buffer machine and what kind should i get?
