how long does wax last on wheels

wats up just wondering how long would a synthetic wax or even a carnuba wax last on rims?

i wont be using any harsh chemicles on them, only soap n water just like the paint/and quik detailer...also is it ok to follow up with UQW on the wheels also?
they are clearcoated,well at least the lip is.

just wondering how long would it last the way i described...?

It really all depends on how hot they get, what type of brake dust and other foreign substances get on them, how often you wash, etc. There is no way to tell for sure, but a synthetic wax will last longer than canauba wax, because synthetic can withstand the heat while carnauba cannot.

The main point of waxing wheels is to prevent brake dust build up and make the cleaning easier. You most defintiely can follow up with UQW on the wheels to work as an added booster. You are also dead on that you should only be using soap and water, otherwise wheel cleaners will just strip the wax.

You are the only one that can really tell how long the wax is lasting. So go ahead, wax em, and continue with your normal regimen, and once you can tell any noticeable difference with brake dust build up or ease of cleaning, then chances are that the wax is gone at that point. If you use UQW after every wash on your wheels, then there really is not need to worry about longevity.

While wheel waxing does protect the wheel to an extent, the main purpose is to prevent brake dust from sticking and to make cleaning easier. If you are worried about the protection of your wheels, just make sure to keep them clean and not let brake dust build up and sit for long periods of time (months)

thats a good answer man thanks, n yea im basically just worried about the protection,not the ease of cleaning...cuz knowing myself ima be cleaning them every other day with quik detail,plus everytime i wash my car obvioulsy which is every week - 2 weeks


but wait, so carnuba wax cant really witstand heat? so on my paint how much longer does synthetic really last compared to carnuba?i know it all depends on the contaminants n such but just saying u know... cuz i ran out of nxt so i been using my bottle of m26 lol

As you already know, there are tons of factors that go into how long your wax lasts, but generally synthetic wax lasts longer than carnauba wax. There is nothing wrong at all with using carnauba wax, however when it comes to wheels, they can heat up because of the radiating heat from the brake pads, calipers, and pistons, and the temperatures that wheels experience from this can cause carnauba wax fail where as a synthetic wax will withstand the heat.

You don't have to worry about the heat as much when it comes to your paint. However, it does appear that you are in Las Vegas, so I assume your car can get pretty hot there, but I really wouldn't worry about it too much.

How often do you wax your car? something I might recommend is picking up a bottle of NXT/M21 and then topping it with M26. My absolute favorite combo!

yeah i wax my car every month - 2 months
yea i actually used nxt topped with m26 once
but im excited on seeing wat ultimate wax can do
