    New Microfiber DA 5in pad Question

    Hey guys
    I have a backing plate that is exactly 4 3/4 in. Is that ok to use for the new DA microfiber pads, the 5 in. ones? Or should I buy the 5 in pad that goes along with the system? I don't want to waste money on a pad if mine will work.

    the size is ok but because of the velcro nap on the pads it propaly will not work. i have seen a few reviews saying that when using a different backing plate there were issues of pad not staying hooked or the pad melting due to excessive heat. but everyone using the Meguair's backing plate made for these pads have not seen these issues.

        As mentioned, it's better to stay within Meguiar's recommendations:

        3" discs - S3BP backing plate,
        5" discs - W67DA backing plate,
        6" discs - S6BP backing plate.
