  • SwirlX?

Hey guys how well does SwirlX work for a main compound on a vehicle with light to moderate swirls? Im nearly out of Ult. Compound and id rather not go to a harsher cut if i dont need it, but i also dont want to have to run back n forth if SwirlX doesnt "cut" it.

So is SwirlX a pretty healthy cutting compound for light/moderate swirls?

I put Swirlx at a tick more aggressive than M205.

Depending on paint hardness it will be fine. As its a cleaner polish it does contain some fillers.

I would use it on a megs black pad speed 4 on a d/a then drop the speed/pressure down on your final few passes.

I would aplpy it with a polishing pad at speed 4 and then a finishing pad at speed 3 if you really wanted to bring up the gloss.

A finishing pad with a light cleaner/polish will not remove many imperfections, if any.

SwirlX has noticeably less cut that Ultimate Compound. Whether or not it has enough cut for the level of defects and hardness of paint on the particular vehicle you're going to be working on is hard to say without knowing those particulars.

I was thinking about speed 5 on a polishing pad with moderate/heavy pressure then lightening up pressure for final passes and finishing with M205 before LSP!

It's worth a shot, Zach, but SwirlX isn't terribly aggressive so only a test spot will tell you for sure.

ok well, i actually broke down and bought 105 at our advanced auto, used that and it seemed to cut really well, aside from the face that i dont think i know quite how to use it yet, or else i wasnt doing a good enough job keeping the pad clean or working the area as my truck still wasnt very defect free. i mean dont get me wrong it cut a LOT of defects WAY down but i felt it also left a lot that could have been removed.

However im blaming myself for this as i was in a major time crunch and tried going around my truck as quick as i could while still trying to do good work. im thnking the combination of not keeping pad clean enough and not working the area for very long is to blame, however i think i still need some practice time with 105 as well.

Its not uncommon for an area to take multiple passes. Something else to remember a good rule of thumb for defects are if you can feel them with your fingernail, they wont come out.

Also what polisher and brand pads were you using. The proper pad/polish combination is critical in removing defects.

Any techniques using SwirlX by hand?, my vehicles are generally in top notch shape & I don't have a DA polisher...though I have a bottle of SwirlX & UC

Can anyone post a link to some youtube vids on SwirlX & maybe UC...Thanks
