  • How to apply collinite 845?? With PC and with hand??

Hi all, just got Collinite 845 insulator wax. I know that it is liquid base but I didn't expect that it is so liquid compared to M21. I want to try it because some say that Collinite 845 has excellent durability combined with an ease of use. But Since this liquid wax is so liquid (in my opinion), I confuse in choosing the right way to apply it. Maybe you know or ever use this product then would you tell me evrything about it. How you apply it, how much you put it to the pad, how thin you apply it, how long you leave it before you buff it with MF towel.
Anyway everthing about this collinite 845, I want to know all of it.
    Thanks guys for the information.

well..i've never use it..but i think that every wax has the same process to apply it...take some and put on your finishing pad..set speed from 1 to 3..no need to add pressure coz wax usually don't have abrasives..and to test if it's dry, use the "swipe test"..but here in indonesia, my wax dries in 10 minutes or so..but i usually just leave it until 30 mins and then wipe it off with meg's ultimate wipe..

be sure to post some pics if you finished apply it..wanna test collinite myself..but short on money..

Hi Pro01, off course I will upload some pics after applying it. Since I just wax my car with M21 about 10 days ago, I'll wait this weekend to apply it okay. Just wait....
I bought this Collinite from boss RM.
I think this collinite is worth to buy, especially when your car is black.
      See ya

It is a good product, you do have to chake it up a lot since it does "sleep" or thicken after a while. It goes very thin, and a little goes along way. Just ensure you get full coverage.. Oh yes, its easy to use! easy to use by hand, try it i think you'll like it.

I'll try it this weekend. But I don't know why there is so little respond on this thread, maybe MOL members rarely use Collinite product. I just want to gather more information and advice about this Collinite 845 before I apply it.
Anyway thanks ffboy for the respond.

Shake and shake and shake ... and then shake some more. If you find there's a plug in the neck of the bottle, push it in and shake some more. 845 will eventually liquify. Apply thin, allow to haze, and then buff off. I have only applied 845 by hand but some folks prefer applying it by machine.

I actually like the NXT 2.0 look better than collinite 845 on black. For me, the collinite gives better "character" on silver..

@akimel: yup, I guess I'll do it by hand too. But do you think 845 look better on Black or Silver?
@ ffboy: haven't applied it yet. But many says that it looks good on Black. Will send some picture after apply it, okay. Just wait

Hehe.. Well, i think my eyes are different.. 845 has depth definitely, but I don't know why my eyes are crazy.. I don't know why its not the depth my eyes are after. Just go ahead and try it, you will get good results with it. hehe, at the moment, just ignore what i said about me liking nxt 2.0 better on black vs. collinite 845..

But i do stand by what I said about collinite 845 on silver.. I like the way it adds depth to silver, not just brightness or "pop". This is where i think collinite has the SLIGHT edge over NXT 2.0

You will like it! apply the sealant (m21) first, allow to cure for 12 hours, then apply 1-2 coats of collinite.

Fortunately I have M21, definitely try it soon bro. People have their own opinions bro, don't blame your eyes, they're fine..

I guarantee that collinite 845 is one of the easiest waxes to use. Almost as easy as nxt (or M21). Since you plan to detail your car based on the arsenal you have, try applying a polish or glaze (DC2 or meguiars No. 7 glaze) to really give maximum shine. At the moment, i have mothers sealer and glaze, and on black it really deepens and darkens the paint. I do notice that it doesnt just add depth or conceal imperfections (same as megs 7 and DC2) but based in touch/feel, it gives waxes something to adhere to. It seems to even out the paints look, and the dreaded smearing/streaking is almost non existent (lets face it, we sometimes apply to much wax) and the wax goes on easier.

IMO, 845 looks great on all colors.

If you are looking for maximum durability, I would stick with 845 alone--two coats. After buffing off the first coat, give it 60 minutes time to cure and then apply the second coat (that is what I was told by the manufacturer).

I agree, 845 looks good on all colors. I still use ultimate quik detailer (or UQW if needed) in between wash or wax sessions.

What do you think akimel for applying UQD first before apply collinite 845? Just like ffboy said. Will UQD decrease the bonding between the paint and 845? Or will it be okay and no effect at all applying UQD first. What do you think is the best FOR YOU?

I have used #845 for about 3 years now and have found that it is best applied whe using the straight line method with a small overlap. After i Clay, polish, and apply a base coat of meg's paint sealent 2.0, then i used 845. Water rolls off like a widshield with rainx on it. I even use it on my chrome wheels. Great stuff! As for QD and a bonding issue, i use QD to wipe off polish or 2.0 that i missed and has dried and havent had an issue with that. With the right paint care, I assure you you will love 845!
Oh! with 845, a little goes a long way!
