  • Exhaust Pipe & M9214 Metal Guard

    Here is a question
New exhaust pipe has some surface rust on it
I want to use some steel wool and clean it
now after I do that -
has anyone tried to use M9214 Metal Guard to protect things like this or have even tried it. what about on running boards? or trailer hitches

I have seen a product called Sharkhide
    http://www.sharkhide.com/
It seems to be kind of the same type of thing

I would like to hear if anyone uses M9214 Metal Guard on there cars and trucks and how they use it

      Not very common.

I had asked about it a long time ago, and was told it was a bit messy to use in tight areas, and needed applied nice and even. Too much hassle around a car exhaust.

You can certainly ask Tim Lingor about it, I'll try a search for my old thread.

It seems like there is a great product in M9214 Metal Guard
It could help with hitches, running boards, and all kinds of stuff
Some one on this forum must have tried it or experimented with it.

          Morning,

Yes, I have used a lot of the Metal Guard. You need to spray it in multiple thin coats. At first it will look like orange peel, but as it sets-up, it smooths out as long as the coating is not too thick. You need to use in a well ventilated area unless you like giggling for hours for no apparent reason! It creates a long lasting durable coating. I use it on the aluminum boats, chrome that is exposed to salted roads in the winter, exhaust tips etc etc.

          I hope that helps!

By the way , I did use the Metal Guard on my F350 tail pipe that is exposed from the wheel well about 30"
IT WORKS FANTASTIC !!, I don't know why more people are not using it.
It left a clear type coating on it, its been on it now for about 3 months, and still looks clean
I will post pictures when I get time

Normally don't do this, but, your following up with some good feedback turned a good question in to a great teaching thread. Thanks
