  • Need advice in applying M21 and UQD!!!

This is the other matter I need to understand. I've search the internet about it and can't find clear answers to my questions.
    Here are the questions:
    1. How much do I have to put the M21 on the pad?
    2. I set the speed to 3 when I wax my car using PC but it seems that it is difficult to rotate especially when the pad is not in the flat position, I mean when the pad is skewed, the PC stop rotating and just shaking. Is there any technique on using it?
    3. Which is the right, apply UQD after waxing or apply wax first and then applying UQD?
    4. How long I have to wait after each appliance?
    5. If I wax the car first and then applying UQD on it, will the UQD remove the wax?
    6. If I apply UQD first and then waxing the car, will the wax bond to the paint well?
I have M21 and collinite 845 for the wax.
    Thanks guys for the info.

Re: Need advice in applying M21 and UQD!!!

    1) I like to first apply wax in a kind of asterisk formation over the pad when using a machine. This allow most of the pad to be covered with wax. You don't want to put too much on though. My asterisk shape extends the entire pad length. You can also think of it as 2 X's in different directions if that helps.

    2) 3-4 is a goos speed when waxing. Sometimes I will use speed 4 because I feel like it helps spread the wax a little easier as there is more pad rotation. If you tilt the machine even on speed 5 it will stop rotating. That is the safety mechanism built into the machine and why it is so safe to use. The basaic technique is to keep the pad flat at all times. This is why I prefer waxing with 4" pads and paste wax because its just easier for me.

    3) UQD is only a spray detailer used to remove light dust. If, before waxing, your car has light dust then go ahead and wipe it down with UQD. However, if you have just finished polishing your car and there is no dust then there is no need to use it. UQD is not necessarily a part of the waxing process.

    4) Do you mean how long should you wait for the wax to dry? You should wait 30-45 minutes usually. Or do you mean how long between applying wax again after the first coat? That would be 12 hours if using a synthetic sealant like M21.

    5) There is no need to use UQD right after waxing. It won't hurt it but there is no need to. If you are going to wipe it down woth UQD I would ait 12 hours just so the polymers have time to set-up and so that you cna ensure the maximum amount of wax stays on the surface of the car.

    6) Once again, if you have to use UQD to remove light dust before waxing then go ahead and do it. You will not see any ill side effects of using UQD before waxing.

Thanks Shawn for the clear answers. I will add it to my note. Since I'm a beginner here. But can I wax using M21 by hand and off course using applicator pad?

Absolutely you can apply M21 by hand. It sometimes takes a little more effort and practice to apply a really thin coat by hand but it can be done relatively easily.
