  • next time i want to wax, what is best method

Last month i waxed my truck, washed, clayed,80, 2x nxt(with the G100a). now i want to try the Gold Class wax instead of nxt wax., and do a compairson, i e hood, i feel the truck does not need to be clayed or #80 again, its in great shape,so my question is how do i reprep the truck for a new wax job,can i just wash with nxt wash and go to town or do i need to do somthing else.dawn soap,etc......

If after your NXT wash you see no swirls and the surface is smooth, you can go straight to gold class.

To be honest, if you are trying to "compare" (for looks and/or durability) NXT vs GC, you really should strip any products you have on there (a good paint cleaner should work), so you can do a fair evaluation. Of course, after a couple of coats of GC, the look of the GC will probably overtake the finish. However, you are really not getting a good comparison.

Why not use the tailgate as a test for comparison............. half with NXT, and the other half with GC, after re-preping ?

        Just a thought??????????

I agree with 429... might pick up a bottle of Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner. Easy to find/use works well and inexpensive all in one bottle! I personally don't like dawn on a car some say that its hard on paint and adhesives used to adhere trim and so on.

I think I would do the #80 again as well to get that polishing action in there just as you did with the NXT might make the comparison a little closer.

Let us know how it works out.

Well , I can use # 80 again or i have a new bottle of the Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner, the Mequiars sales rep recommened this instead of the 80 if the paint is still in A1/mint cond, what ya think, wash,MPPC,GC X2,and ithink i will just do the tailgate, then repeat but with NXT.
