I decided to detail my car this weekend and started with washing with Meguiars mitt and Gold Class Car Wash and dried with Megs Water Magnet.
Next I clayed the entire car. Turned out so smooth I called my neighbor who is a real car guy to feel the paint.
My paint finish was very good but I did have a few little swirl/scratches on the hood and trunk. I decided to use my Megs DA polisher (first time since I bought it) and ScratchX. I had always done my cars by hand, so this was the first time using a DA polisher. I used the ScratchX before by hand on my other vehicle when one of my dogs stood on the side of the car and scratched the paint. Worked great. Well I did two passes on the hood and the marks were still there. Tried a small area by hand and took the scratches out. Oh, my mistake, I was not using enough pressure with the DA. I was just letting it glide on the surface. Tried again with pressure and finish turned out perfect.
Now time to try Ultimate Liquid Wax which had just come with my Megs order (using the February special of free shipping). Went on very easy using the DA. My only question was my car paint is called Thunder Gray and is a darker color. I was working in the garage and not in sun, but the wax was almost invisible to see. I was sure that I was using enough wax as I could feel it on the DA's black pad and if I ran my finger across the hood, I could see a swipe mark. Finished the entire car and buffed with Megs Supreme Shine MF cloth. Sunday I applied a second coat of wax.
The car looks great. I attached a few pics, sorry they aren't as good as most of the ones that are posted but it rained heavy all day Sunday and snowed a little over night so I didn't want to back it out of the garage.
