  • Dealer Applied Finish?

I just purchased a new 2011 Honda Pilot. An exterior finish was applied prior to purchase called "Auto Butler". Is anyone familiar with this? Was wanting to apply a good coat of NXT Tech Wax, but was a bit hesitant.
    Please advise!

    Re: Dealer Applied Finish?

The Auto Butler is a 2 step system that does a clean and polish step followed by a paint sealant. It needs to be reapplied every 6 months according to their website. I would seal it with NXT and maintain it on my own going forward. You will certainly not hurt anything by applying another sealer on top of the Auto Butler.

    From their website FAQ:

    Q. Can I still wax my vehicle?

    A. After having the Premier Paint Protection II applied to your vehicle, there is no need to wax, however waxing your vehicle will not harm the paint protection or void your warranty. We also recommend regularly washing your vehicle using a soft cloth carwash.

What did that "Auto Butler" cost you?

If the surface is smooth and if the car is shinny, why bother?

The dealers always try to push these value-add-services. Some salesmen would even tell you that you never have to wax your car. I personally never believe in this.

yep I agree, just another scam like red anti freeze and the change oil light and the 30,000mile check engine light. This is why before any purchase, the consumer should do their homework.

(another one im not fond of is making your vehicles oil filter almost inaccessible with out a special "dealer tool")

I looked at the paper work. No separate charge on the Auto Butler. Time to add a good coat of Maguiar's NXT wax.
