I'm looking at buying a new car. My current car is in great condition but I have had her repainted several times, so I have the benefit of having a thick clear coat layer.
I love it, because my paint is more forgiving to fixing defects.
In contrast, my roommate's new car already has some really small scratches in it, but unfortunately they are to the base coat already and unrepairable.
So I was wondering if there has ever been the practice of getting an extra layer of clearcoat sprayed on a brand new car.
I know I'll definitely be getting the "clear bra" type additions to the new car, since AZ causes a lot of rock chips.
I guess the con would be that the paint would be softer... I know my car gets some slight marring more easily than other cars.
