i have a 91 cadillac brougham d elegance with a full white vinyl top, i tried everything under the sun to get it clean. nothing worked until i tried the MR CLEAN MAJIC ERASER. box of 4 at wal mart 5 bucks. there is not another product out there that will work any better. it took me 1 hour to clean it. it looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. it gets all of the dirt out of all the cracks in the grain 100 percent. then put on 2 coats of nu vinyl protectant. you can find this at true value hardware stores. it has uv protection, dries hard , and wont run off and streak your glass when it rains.

Vinyl fabric or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is covered by a thin layer of plastic. To keep vinyl fabric soft and flexible, manufacturers add agents known as plasticizers to the raw PVC. A major function of the topcoat is to hold in these plasticizers, which otherwise would quickly evaporate. If the topcoat is damaged or degraded, plasticizers begin to escape leading to embrittlement/cracking/ and ultimate failure.

It is normal for the plasticizers to gradually dry out over time. With proper care, however, this process can be slowed significantly. Always use products that will allow surfaces to dissipate heat normally. Like all detailing task’s the correct preparation before applying the product will ensure that it works correctly, and has both durability and aesthetics.

Wash vinyl surfaces with soapy water and a soft bristle brush (Sonic Scrubber) rinse with clean water and then thoroughly dry. Then use 1z Plastik Reiniger before the application of a suitable protection.
