  • Flat Black Stripes

Hi, new user to the forum with a question. I have a 2004 Mach 1 Mustang with the flat black hood stripe. Was going to wash, clay, apply Ultimate Compound, Seal and Wax using hand and machine.......what about the stripe? What can I do/not do to it. Thanks in advance. Cool site

    Re: Flat Black Stripes

Assuming it is the regular vinyl, cant do much.

Try to be carefull when cleaning/waxing so you dont catch and pull up an edge.

As far as putting something on it, something like the Ultimate Protectant I think is the best option.

DO NOT use Ultimate Compound on your stripe. ANYTHING matte finish will turn shiny if an abrasive product is used on it. By nature, compounds and polishes are intended to refine the surface, and they will change its appearance.

Is the stripe painted or vinyl?
