    Re: wax on new paint

You should wait 60-90 days before applying wax to paint fresh out of the body shop. This will allow the paint to outgas.

      G Force,

You want to wait 60-90 days before applying a wax. You can wash the car with a regular car wash soap that does not contain wax, and use a product like our #7 Show Car Glaze in the meantime.

noooooo! apply wax on may 18th

if u apply a wax/sealent then the paint wont be able to outgas and it may cause little bubbles in the paint called solvent pop

like said above, use show car glaze thats wat i barely used on freshly painted spoiler...car wash soap with no wax in it..and Quik details in between washing

once the 90 days are over, clay it,polish it and seal it

Just as a reminder, you shouldn't use M135 Synthetic Spray Detailer or Ultimate Quik Detailer since these actually have hydrophobic polymers that seal the paint to a certain extent.

How to determine if it is safe to apply wax on the 60th day? I already have Final Inspection and Deep Crystal Polish for maintenance and looks after curing.

In hot summer days, maybe you can get away with only 60 days. You better wait longer in these winter months.

In fact, I would not even touch it with any product other than car soap. Just wash often and wait.....

These two products are fine to use on fresh paint.

Usually your painter will tell you how long period of time for out-gasing is recommended before waxing.

When I painted my car last time, I asked the painter and he told me that I could wax after a week. I then asked another body-shop, the guy there told me the same.

These guys just paint the car as taught. They certainly know how to make the cars look good but many of them don't know about this out-gasing process.

I took the advice from this forum and painfully waited 90 days.

Its amazing that the guys who applied the paint, have no idea about the product they are working with.
