White polishing pad will offer less paint cut than orange light cutting pad but it will work. When removing swirls you need to remove small amount of paint leveling the area. The process with white pad versus orange pad will be slower.

Because you have only one polishing pad you need to clean it frequently. Use a clean terry towel to do so. Press the towel against the pad, turn the polisher on and keep it running for short period of time. It's called cleaning pad "on the fly".

After M80 you protect paint with wax. Slow down the polisher speed to setting 3 and you can move your arm faster as you just spread the product without any correcting job.

What kind of tape I have to use? Because I have used the regular tape once and when I tape off the tape, the glue stick on the paint. Do I have to use the tape when polishing?

You may see discussions of an alcohol wipe down. You may wish to try that first before proceeding. It will show you defects you may wish to expend extra effort, before waxing.

You may just wish to proceed straight to waxing.

Jefri, you mentioned in another thread that your tape got tangled up in your pad and may have damaged the pad. I've been tangled in tape and the result was more towards creating problems with the finish rather than the pad.

If you have access to auto parts store, they will have automotive tape. If you have access to a household paint store or lumberyard look for masking tape labeled for "sensitive surfaces".

Left over adhesive can be removed with Quik Detailer.

Hi guys, I'm back with the update.
I've applied M80 using DA, and the result is great. I will upload the picture after I finish it. I've done some experiment on this.
The first one, using M84 applied by hand to remove scrathes and swirls that "someone" think that it is deep scratch and swirls but after appling it there still the marring on the paint and then followed by M80 using DA, the result is great. The swirls completely gone and there are still some deep scratches.(this one has been done)
The second one, will only apply M80 using DA on the original paint which has deep swirls and scratches (the second one have not been done, I'll try it tomorrow.

PICTURE #1: Taken after polishing "the original swirls and scratches" with M84 by hand followed by M80 by hand too.
The result: there are still light swirls but not as strong as the original, you can see the original picture on the thread "How to restore my black color car"

PICTURE #2: Taken after polishing the section in PICTURE #1 by using PC.
Speed: 5 to 6 , Pressure: 15 - 20 pounds
The result: swirls has gone but there are still some very light scratches left behind.

What do you think about the result? I'll upload some more pictures after experimenting with M80.

Overall, nice job!

However, there seems to be some haze still left, possibly from M84 by hand. You are doing well and must have pretty good technique to get this result. I would recommend working M80 1-2 more times if you can't buy Ultimate Compound. On both times working M80, lighten up the pressure and keep the speed at 5. (Make sure the pad is rotating!)

This should allow the M80 to fully break down and give you an even higher gloss than what we seen above.

You are very dedicated and I'm impressed with what you have accomplished so far!

Work M80 for at least 4-5 passes and possible even more if it allows you without drying. This will ensure that the abrasives in M80 are broken down completely lleaving behind as little marring as possible.

Thanks for the respond, I've set the speed at five, but the pad seems difficult to rotate so I set it at 5,5 and sometimes at 6. Do the pad rotate slowly?
About the technique, thanks to Mike Phillips and Michael Stoop, they help me much in showing the right one. But there is a lot more to learn, one I got from you

No problem man! You also might want to back the speed down to 4 while doing this. Experiment with it a little bit.

Put a tape line down and try one technique on one side and another on the other. See which one looks better to you and go from there!

Hi Jefri,

What a difference. Looks much better.

As Shawn said, maybe more passes with M80. You have to fully work the abrasives in and later they'll switch into polishing cycle. If you quit too soon you may leave hazed or micro-marred finish. M80 has pretty long buffing time before it starts drying out.

You could do extra 2-3 passes with slower speed (3-4) for extra polishing, just don't press down so hard, light-medium pressure should be enough.
