anyone have any experience with the "baja sol" Target car wash products? I bought some microfiber towels and chenille sponges and one or all of them seem to be leaving scratches

I wanted to see if anyone else experienced this with any particular target brand items.

Regardless, I will probably be trashing them in the near future.

I do not think the Baja Sol chenille sponges use 100% cotton for the Chenille, but rather a blend of materials. I purchase the Baja sol wool wash mitt, but always checkk for softness before puchasing. Also, I think their Microfiber supplier changed and the towels are not as good as they used to be. If you want good quality and consistent microfiber towels and wash supplies check Meguiars extensive line of accessories.

There are two things you should do before using any microfiber towel on your paint. The first is to wash them in either woolite or another good quality detergent prior to initial use. The second is to perform a cd scratch test by simply dragging the towel across the surface of a cd. If scratches are present, that towel should be used only for interior and wheel purposes only. Hope this helps.

Hi there! Welcome to board. I haven't noticed that problem from those particular products. The chennille mit does tend to shed a bit though. I believe the MF from Target is the same brand as Walmart and there seemed to be a lint problem.

My gripe against Target is there prices. I went there one night and the NXT wax was $14.70 something the next morning it was $15.26. I just couldn't understand the price increase right at the beginning of winter. Didn't make sense. I was hoping to get some sort of price break for winter.

I haven't had problems with either their microfiber towels (I ripped the tags off) or their terrycloth towels. I also really like their terrycloth covered foam pads for interior and wheel work!

On a different note.... I have a spray nozzle from Target (Baja sol). Very low quality and after looking at their other products (towles/wash mitts) on the shelf seem they are the same.

I really like the nozzle from target. Now the shutoff valve from target was sorry. I also found a very soft and well I guess thin wool wash mit. Very similar to the feel like the one I purchased from Meguiar's. I didn't like the thin kind of wool wash mit at first, but now there ok. I try to pick through the mits and get the softest one. Like someone posted pick your mit like you would fruit.

FYI i find that i liked the Costco terry towels,a very soft feel and at a screaming price also just picked up a 5 pack of microfiber/chenille mix wash mitts, (a new item) they have a nice feel also ,5 for 10 bucks ,you have too watch that you dont snag them on an edge of trim or moulding thou, i must say i like them and might buy 5 more and throw them in the attic ...just my 2 cents, also i like the Walmart fire hose nozzle, 5 bucks and shots like a fire hose too.

                  why didn't I check before

on a whim, I looked at the only microfiber cloth that still had the tag on it from the ones I mentioned above:

                  70% polyester

All microfiber are polyester polidamyde(sp?) blends, usually 80/20 or 70/30, but I think they are a few that are 75/25.

Try the Microtex MF drying towel. It is much more plush than the Baja Sol ones. It is also a 70/30 blend and is made in Korea. The Baja Sol ones are made in China. I rubbed the Microtex drying towel on a CD pretty hard and it still didn't scratch. If you have a Walmart near you, the same towel will be a buck less. Walmart also sells the same smaller Microtex MF towels for 3.62 a pair. I find these to be a better size for wiping off polishes and waxes.
