Well, the pad could get that way for several reasons. It could be you are using too much pressure and heating the pad up too much. Are you cleaning the pad of spent compound with a towel or brush as you work your way around the car? Sometimes the act of cleaning your pad can wear out a pad similar to what you are showing if your not careful. The larger tears in your pad could be from polishing over protruding objects like emblems. It's hard to tell exactly why it is wearing like that so quickly without actually being there and seeing exactly how you are using the pad.
hmm??when i'm using D/A, i rarely touch the emblem..
btw, it's really hard for me to remove defects from curved part of my car..dunno why..any advice??i've move my D/A along with the curve..but it won't do squat..
Too much pressure, running over surface protrusions, polishing ‘dry, pad loaded with surface debris (oxidized paint, etc) pads should be cleaned and/or changed regularly; fix should be easy – avoid.
