  • Drying too fast?

My 2006 Suzuki has SS red paint that is a bear to work with. Last summer when I tried using the NXT2 paste (and even to some extent the liquid) by hand I found that the product would dry too fast for me and not allow me to apply a micro thin layer as I'm supposed to. Trying a heavier application was no better and removal was even worse and don't even get me started about the clouding.

Should I go old school and try M20 or new school and try the new Ultimate Wax? The difficulty of my car's paint is one of the reasons I haven't been around lately, it's depressing when after so many years of detailing it seems like your going backwards in skill and I'm starting to feel like a hack.

Don't be fooled by the picture, there is clouding big timme over the horizontal surfaces

The relatively "dry" cleaners do ok, it's when I get into the oilier polishes and sealants that I run into trouble

What is the ambient air temperature around you when you are working. That might be a problem. Also was the car clayed before your application of wax. Another thing is how long do you go between waxing?

I don't usually do anything to the car (other then washing) unless it's over 60*. Not immediately before, but not too long prior. I'm a waxaholic, I've been known to wax a car three times a week or more just because I'm bored.

The Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish work great, it's when I try to run a pure polish or sealant or an oily wax such as Collinite 845 over the paint that things get screwy.

If UC and UP and getting good results I would continue to use them.

Just so you know Ultimate Polish has tons of polishing oils like a pure polish so no need to follow with the additional step, especially if it subtracts from the appearance of the surface.

If the Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish are working great I would choose to put down Ultimate Paste Wax. Im sure it has something to do with the chemical composition of UP interferring with NXT. I might be wrong but it seems logical.

                    Re: Drying too fast?

i doubt it has anything to do with upolish being used before.

are u spreading the nxt wax with the applicator pad it came with?
maybe ur having trouble because ur car needs to be clayed, is ur cars paint rough to the touch or bumpy? or does it feel smooth

ive never used paste but i never had a problem with nxt liquid wax

                      Re: Drying too fast?

Well, it does make sense for the paste wax to be drier....

I picked up one of the New Car Kits, has a half size Ultimate Wax. Could be the thing to try, though I belive a few posts here say it applies a little different. So be sure ot check them out.

As soon as the weaather permits I'm going to give the car a full boat detail, clay, Ultimate Compound etc so I guess that I'll give the new Ultimate Wax a try.

Have you ever tried M26 on the car? It is a pure wax so it has none of the polishing oils that NXT has.
