  • Meg's Microfiber washmitt lifetime

    Dear all, fficeffice" />

How long is the recommended lifetime of the Meg's microfiber wash mitt? Is there any sign of deflect that show that it can't be used anymore?

Here are some facts about the wash mitt:
    • had been used for 1.5 years
    • no dirt, sand, or color change with the wash mitt
    • 2 bucket system wash
    • Using grit guard
    • Sticky thin mud body (Tropic environment)
    • Plas chamois to dry with blotting method
    • Use for upper panel only
The wash mitt work perfectly for the first year, and now, it seem to add light swirl after each wash... No additional swirl after drying, so I suspect it comes from the wash mitt...

Any body has information about this?

    Thanks

How many times would you estimate you have used it?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

I cant get what you mean...
You said you have used the mitt for 1.5 years,
and you wash once or twice a week...
I dont have that much fingers to count...

anyway I use 4 mitts each time I wash my car, a mid size sedan...
once they are used, I put them in a bucket so they wont touch the car surface again...
Have been using them like this for over 1 year... wash once to twice a month on average I guess?
Consider all the dirt and grime the mitts pick up each time I wash, the mitts still looks good and feel soft...

If your microfiber products are getting hard, try washing with a proper microfiber soap... There are a few of the MF soap online~ some people say washing with vinegar or boil them help as well..

Well if it is putting swirls in your car and you are positive it is the wash mitt, the go ahead and get a new one and toss your current one.

One wash mitt that's been used probably what, 80-90 times? It's not surprising that it's reaching the end of its useful life. Is it safe to assume you wash and dry it after every use? That should actually extend its life and keep dirt from building up in it, which will (obviously) create swirls when used.

Over time the materials will wear out (just like microfiber towels) and sinceyou got a year and a half of usage, it looks like you got your money's worth. Instead of throwing it away, you can always delegate it to wheels or wheel wells now.

if he used the wash mitt for 1.5 years which means to me 1 and 1/2 then he would of used it roughly 78 times something like that.

Same idea! It is time to throw away my mitt for wheel and replace it with the one use for the upper panel.
