  • New acrylic lacquer wax?

After letting new acrylic lacquer cure for 60 days I've put on several coats of Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax.
Is there a better product to use?
Is it safe to use an instant detailer for show touch up?
    Thanks.

Well, bit of personal preference, but DC Wax is entry level.

Gold Class +, #26, Ultimate Wax are all options.

And yes, a spray detalier would be a great idea.

I love DC Carnauba, goes on and comes off easily, leave a great gloss and smells great.

"Better" is an interesting word in this context. At Mat points out, DC Carnauba is one of our more "entry level" waxes, but it is a very nice carbauba designed to be applied to very well prepped paint - it has no cleaners and no polish. That's fine, especially when you consider that the majority of your gloss comes from the prep work and not the wax itself. Still, different waxes can impart slightly different looks to different paints, but that starts to get into very personal choices and perceptions.

A very popular combination of products, certainly for show cars, is our M07 Show Car Glaze topped with M26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax. The M07 can do wonders on dark colors for adding a lot of gloss and depth, and the M26 is often considered to impart a warm, rich final look. This tends to be more true on single stage paint than clear coat systems.

Another great option is to really clarify the finish with M205 Ultra Finishing Polish and make use of the SMAT abrasives to enhance that appearance, then top with a synthetic like our new Ultimate Wax.

Both of the above will make the finish look incredible, but they won't necessarily look identical. Which one looks best to your eyes, however, is entirely up to you. You may like one while someone else prefers the other - neither is right or wrong, they're just different. But since it's your car, your time, your money, then your opinion wins!

As for use of a quick detailer spray for touch ups at shows, absolutely it's a great idea. In fact, it's the best and safest way to remove the light dust and fingerprint smudges that are bound to happen during setup and throughout the show. Ultimate Quik Detailer is going to be the premium product in this segment.
