I've read a lot of the post on this and was thinking are there any new products or methods you use that work really well or easy? My truck toolbox takes a beating every winter and spring is almost here so I'm looking for the lazy man's way to clean and protect it. Thanks.

Assuming bare aluminum, it is really just the pattern/texture that makes it hard. Both to apply the produtcs and then remove them.
The only proucts to really use are metal polish and a wax if you chose.
Some people have used the powerball type products. I would be inclined to do a small test spot on the side or out of the way with #0000 steel wool and a metal polish and check the results.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue -

If you are looking to restore the finish, M105 might be a great start. It's a compound that can be used by hand or by machine.
For maintaining shine, I'd pickup some M93 - Marine Metal Polish. This is very similar to other Megs metal polishes, but designed for boats and appears to be more durable than car specific polishes.
