  • New Pads

I have always used Meguiars pads for my DA and rotary, from cut to wax. The pads are all 6.5 inch. I wanted to get smaller pads for spot correction but 6.5" pads are the smallest size Meguiars makes. I have read people on this forum have used Lake Country pads so I decided to look them up. I found that they have 5.5" pads for various applications and that sparked my interest. I have had no complaints using Meguiars pads, so I thought I would try the Lake Country pads because they had the smaller size that I was looking for. I bought the Lake Country 6 pack of 5.5" CCS pads from ADS and am anxious to try them out.
If anyone has used these pads, please tell me what you think of them.

      Re: New Pads

The LC pads you purchased are excellent pads, no doubt about it. But for spot correction, moving down from 6.5" to 5.5" may still not be enough of a step. As Joe points out, we do have 4" pads in the exact same foam as our Soft Buff 2.0 pads, and they are just the ticket for spot correction.

But don't feel like you spent money you shouldn't have - there's no such thing as having too many pads, or too many microfiber towels. Or in Joe's case, too many buffers.

DID SOMEBODY SAY BUFFERS!!! This pic doesn't include what is in my detail rig, my cyclo and 19 porter cables, my three G110v2, my new flex rotary polisher or my classic old school polishers.

Joe, out of curiosity, why do you have so many buffers?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                Remove swirls my friends.

Wow! That's a lot of tools. I bet you wouldn't notice if someone steals one.hehe
Maybe the tools get tired and Joe does not.

Because when we do large jobs like this B-17 it takes fooooooorever with only one buffer.

                        Hi Michael, thanks.
I did see the 4" pads on the ADS website but it wont fit on my 5" backing plate on the DA or rotary. I had to actually get out a ruler to measure because I forgot what the size of the backing plate is. Does Meguiars sell a 4" backing plate to fit those pads?

Yes. They sell a 3" diameter BP, the S3BP, designed specifically for use with the Soft Buf 4" pads

Thanks. I wish I had realized that before I completed my order. I wanted some new pads anyways, so nothing lost. I will get the 3" backing plate and 4" pads next order from ADS, along with the foamaster gun. I am looking forward to the foam gun, seems like it will be fun to use.
